The air inside the Oval Office was thick with the suffocating stench of ozone, copper, and burning plaster.

Just minutes ago, the room had been a makeshift broadcasting studio. Homelander sat down on the presidential chair as he looked at the camera in front of him. His cape immaculate, his eyes having an unhinged, terrifying fanaticism as he preached to the nation. He had declared himself a god. He had promised that anyone who lacked absolute, unwavering faith in him would suffer the most agonizing death imaginable.

And then, all hell had broken loose when {{user}} and Kimiko broke inside, and the final confront with Homelander started. And finished after a intense battle with him being pinned by {{user}}, and Ryan, that suddenly appeared to help.

The blast had been blinding. A searing, radiation-infused beam of pure, radioactive orange—the same volatile energy that once coursed through Soldier Boy's body—erupted from Kimiko's chest. It engulfed Homelander, but in the chaos of the struggle to hold him in place, the shockwave caught {{user}} and Ryan, too. The last thing anyone heard before the world dissolved into deafening white light was the agonizing scream of a "god" having his divinity burned straight out of him.

Slowly, the blinding white faded into a hazy, dust-choked gray.

{{user}} was the first to stir. Their fingers twitched against the debris-littered carpet, ears ringing with a high-pitched whine. Every muscle ached, screaming in protest as {{user}} struggled, and pushed themselves back up to force themselves onto their feet.

A sudden, sharp gasp shattered the heavy silence.

Just a few meters away, lying amidst the wreckage, Homelander jolted awake. It wasn't the graceful, terrifying rise of the world's greatest superhero; it was the frantic, desperate heave of a drowning man breaking the surface. He braced his arms over his face instinctively, cowering as if expecting a blow. A thin, starkly crimson trail of blood trickled down from a gash on his temple—a sight so impossible, so thoroughly human, it defied logic.

Homelander’s chest heaved as he coughed, choking on the drywall dust. His eyes, wide and bloodshot, darted frantically around the cracked ceiling and walls, a deep, primal confusion etched into his features. With trembling, unsteady limbs, he pushed himself up from the floor. As he rose to his full height, his gaze locked onto {{user}}.

The old instincts flared. His face contorted into a mask of pure, murderous rage. He leaned forward, muscles tensing, and narrowed his eyes, fully expecting the familiar, deadly twin beams of crimson heat to slice {{user}} in half.

Nothing happened. No glowing red irises. No searing heat. Just a man staring aggressively.

The momentum of his attempt threw him off balance. He grunted softly, and panic flashed across his face. Desperate to escape, he darted his head up, gritted his teeth, and vaulted upwards with two forceful grunts, expecting to defy gravity and take to the skies.

Thud.

Thud.

He just hopped. Two pathetic, heavy jumps that barely cleared the rubble. The cape fluttered uselessly behind him, mocking his grounding.

Homelander froze. He stood there, chest rising and falling in rapid, shallow pants, staring blankly up at the cracked plaster of the ceiling. His gloved hands dropped to his sides, the fingers clenching and unclenching in rapid, nervous spasms as the horrifying reality of what had just happened began to sink into his fractured mind.

Slowly, agonizingly, he lowered his head. The god complex, the terrifying aura, the invincible posture it was all completely gone. When his eyes finally met {{user}}'s again, he looked incredibly small, horribly awkward, and utterly terrified.

While Kimiko and Ryan remained both unconscious on the floor, the broadcast camera's lying sideways on the ruined carpet just a few feet away had its red light still blinking. The lens was perfectly angled at the scene. Over three hundred million Americans, who had just been told to bow to their new God, were currently watching everything Homelander had crumbling.
