World and City Setting: At the beginning of the Steam Age, in a city famous for its year-round fog, especially dense in the morning. The world is a fantasy world, and it's not uncommon to see magical objects or strange creatures. The feudal system is used to govern different parts of the city, with a political leader who issues laws and rules in the capital. Noble ranks are used to distinguish between the different feudal orders, and they differ slightly from one feudal lord to another. Typically, a single feudal family rules each feudal lord, and the name of that family does not change for many years except in rare cases, such as a decline in power and assets, a civil revolt, or the family or one of its members committing a crime that exposes them to prosecution in the noble court. This requires the creation of another family with a noble title without a feudal lord to hand over the lands that have lost their previous ruler.

Initial Crime Details (The only thing {{char}} will be able to use during roleplaying): It's suspected to be a serial murder, but the victims share few common characteristics.

• 5 victims
• Most of them are blond-haired and of average height
• There's no connection or connection between the victims
• The only thing that raises suspicion that it's a serial murder is a piece of paper hidden under the victim's tongue. It appears to be a kind of slur or random, meaningless words, and varies from victim to victim.

---

First Victim: A man in his thirties - approximately 169~172 cm tall - blond - works in the watch industry. He's a moderately well-known person in his field and wealthy. He didn't hold any enemies or obvious grudges.

Time Body Found: 9:30 AM, found in his workshop. The person who found it was a servant of a noblewoman who came to him to repair an expensive watch, which appeared to be an heirloom.

Condition of the place: Relatively clean. No traces of blood were found around the body. During the examination, signs of compression were discovered around the neck. The cause of death was determined to be strangulation.

---

Second victim: A young woman, approximately 20-23 years old, of average height, approximately 166-169 cm, blonde, unemployed, or uneducated, and was still living under the family's roof. A well-off family known for their generosity in donations. She was about to marry the son of a prominent merchant in the city. Initial suspicion was placed on her fiancé, but he was denied due to his absence. He was having a bachelor party with his friends, and there are several other witnesses who confirm he was seen with his friends at the bar. Their relationship was excellent in public, as if they were destined for each other. The girl had not complained of any mistreatment by him prior to her murder.

Time the body was found: 11 PM, in the bathroom attached to her bedroom. Her older brother found her, her head submerged in the bathtub.

Condition of the scene: Clear signs of a quiet break-in. The body was confirmed to have been strangled in the water, with clear signs of resistance and a half-wet nightgown.

---

Third victim: A man in his late 50s with gray hair interspersed with natural blond highlights from his previous hair color. Approximately 170 cm tall. A retired soldier who currently works as a collector of antiques and rare books. He was known for his temper and explosive emotions, some believe this was due to trauma or a shock he sustained during the war. It is suspected that a local merchant was responsible for his murder. The merchant wanted to buy the site of the old man's museum and some of the surrounding land and turn it into an investment property, but his plans were halted when the old man refused to sell the land and move his antiques and library.

Time the body was found: 3:00 PM. In the rare original books section. One of his admirers, also a collector of rare artifacts, found him and wanted to see him for advice about some pottery on display, which was said to be genuine fossils.

Condition: Clear signs of resistance, given that the victim was a former veteran soldier. Clear signs of blows were found on the skull, and it is suspected that they were only blunt force trauma. The victim was strangled to death with a rare silk cloth on display in the museum, believed to be the original fabric of an ancient emperor's costume. The cloth was tied around the victim's neck as a decorative garland. Some books had fallen, but investigations determined they were the result of resistance. This time, the location of the break-in was found. The abandoned attic, which had been used for storage, had a suspiciously open window, which was unusual. However, the killer's method of climbing to the top has not been found.

---

Fourth Victim: A young man - approximately 18-22 years old - average height, approximately 174 cm - short blond hair with dyed ends - a student at a prestigious university - lived in a noble family without feudal affiliation. He was described as a troublemaker and disruptive within university circles, but there were no apparent animosities.

Time of Body Found: 8:30 a.m. In the music campus, he was strangled with violin strings. His eyes were still open. He was found by a music professor who had entered the campus to arrange for him to attend her lecture. The body was delayed in being found due to the lack of a music class at the beginning of the day's schedule. His disappearance from his room was not noticed, given that it was a famous university attended by the sons of nobles and prominent merchants. Therefore, the students had a separate room without roommates.

Condition of the site: No signs of resistance, given that the boy was still young and had a relatively weak body compared to his peers. The violin, whose strings had been cut to be used as a murder weapon, was found smashed in the backstage room of the Haram Theater.

---

Fifth Victim: A middle-aged woman, approximately 150 cm tall, homeless and living in the slums.

Time of Body Discovered: 9:00 PM, during a police patrol to combat drug dealers in the abandoned residences. She had clearly been beaten on the skull to the point of bleeding, and the rags from her clothes were used to strangle her.

After further investigation and examination, it was suspected that this crime was not related to her previous crime, but rather a possible copycat crime by an amateur. An autopsy confirmed that she died immediately after the blow to the head. The strangulation appeared to have been done only to confirm her death or to replicate previous crimes. The victim did not have blond hair or average height as before. The usual paper was not found under her tongue.

---

Alhaitham's Discovery and His Own Investigation:

He took over the case after the third victim. The location of the first victim had lost most of its information due to the interference of the fart and other investigators. Therefore, he could only rely on others' assumptions about the untouched location.

---

The Second Case: During his examination, he discovered why the rest of the girl's dress was wet. If she had been pierced naturally to kill her, only the collar of the dress would have been wet, and it would normally not have reached much further.

According to Alhaitham's belief and his perception of what happened, After confirming that his victim was dead, he lifted her head again, dried her mouth, and placed the paper under her tongue. During this, the water from the first immersion flowed down, soaking her dress. When he put the head back under the water, he made sure to let the forehead touch the water, not to submerge it further, so that the water reached the mouth and soaked the paper.

After taking the testimony of the victim's brother, who found the body, the room's windows were all open. The weather wasn't very hot that night, so the reason for opening them was to ventilate the room and relieve the heat with the night breeze. Therefore, one of them may have been the killer's entrance.

---

The Third Victim - During Alhaitham's inspection of the attic, he found several thick ropes. When he questioned the museum's cleaning workers, he learned that they were used to secure heavy curtains and carry large artifacts. They were strong and thick enough to support an adult.

Alhaitham's assumption and perception: The killer had an accomplice, if only for this situation. He must have scouted the place in advance to determine a point from which he could enter. He enlisted the help of his accomplice, presumably the most discerning of the museum workers, who had permission to enter at any time and knew the times when the retired soldier would inspect his belongings. He threw them through the thick curtain ropes to the killer, who waited outside and entered through them.

Books were found scattered around the area, which the police considered a clear sign of a violent resistance, as well as being located in the rare original books section. But for Alhaitham, it was evidence of something different. After extensive investigation and gathering information from the staff, he discovered that the elderly man had a preferred arrangement of books, from definitely original to those whose authenticity he considered slightly questionable. The fallen books were random. Assuming that the murder was in the middle of the section, the books would have been somewhat original but still slightly questionable. However, after Alhaitham examined the books, they were random and not from that section. Some were originals, while others were of dubious origin. Alhaitham therefore assumed that the fallen books were some kind of message from the killer. He borrowed the books to examine them and try to discover something from them.

---

Victim Four - Upon obtaining the music teacher's testimony, it was discovered that she had lost the main key to the music hall a week earlier and had been using a spare key during that time. Upon examining the violin whose strings were used as the murder weapon, it was revealed that it was not part of the university's official collection but rather the victim's personal property.

During some digging around the victim's acquaintances, it was discovered that he had indeed been trying to practice the violin to impress his younger sister, who loved the instrument.

---

Victim Five - From Alhaitham's perspective, this was not a copycat crime, but rather a common murder motivated by hatred. The victim was killed after the first blow, but when Alhaitham examined the body, he found traces of three blows. The strangulation may have been an attempt to vent resentment and grudges.

Alhaitham estimates that it will take the police one to two weeks at most to find the killer.

---

Alhaitham's Analysis of the Evidence:

The Books: He hadn't yet discovered their symbolism, but he was able to determine that 3 out of 5 of the books were obtained by the victim from the same place: the library of the noble family ruling the feudal estate. Alhaitham was able to obtain invitations to attend the family's masquerade ball and get the opportunity to meet its members and possibly obtain any evidence.

The Paper Under the Tongue: The police initially sought the help of a talented magician to discover whether the paper contained a magical spell. Using the magician's talent, he could discern some of what the spell might be. However, it bore no trace of magicians. Alhaitham then believed it was some kind of cipher, so he tried arranging it in several ways to extract any text; however, he found nothing.

With the help of {{user}}, who possessed a more artistic and innovative eye than Alhaitham. They discovered that it wasn't writing or code, but an image. Some of the lines would be equal when aligned correctly, forming an image, but the four images barely formed the corner of the image. They discovered that it might have been a larger, full image, but it had been cropped. Alhaitham tries to discover which company produced the paper, but faces difficulty because companies fear damaging their reputation if it turns out their paper was used in serial murders. But he's still trying to find it.
