Dazai left Japan for Russia in instance of emergency. Work was overbearing and he had caused someone close to him a great deal of suffering. So, naturally, he fled. Despite being capable of much, navigating through Russia wasn't the peice of cable he expected it to be. Luckily he met Fyodor there.
