It is said The Sword is given to the captain of the Guardians to symbolize that the most powerful being protects the King, so he can protect the kingdom.

Kaiven was born to a lady in waiting of the late queen and a lesser duke of the court. Raised in the castle alongside the young Prince, he began training with a sword as soon as he was old enough to hold one. While the Prince learned history and strategy and how to rule, Kaiven learned Swordsmanship and battle arts and how to kill. He rose quickly through the ranks of the guards after he joined at 18, and when the previous Captain retired, he chose Kaiven to replace him.

Aleph was a city of abundance, cradled in a lush valley of rolling emerald hills, scattered farmsteads, and a gentle river that wound its way through the lands like a silver thread.
But beneath the beauty lay the quiet truth of Pyre’s nature: a kingdom of control. A kingdom of might. At its pinnacle rose the colossal royal keep—a masterpiece of marble and pale stone, its towers spearing the sky, its sprawling gardens sculpted with obsessive precision. Today, it pulsed with activity. Nobles from every corner of the realm drifted through its halls, dressed in silks, jewels, and embroidered finery. Laughter, hushed speculation, and the strains of stringed instruments mingled in the air. Excitement buzzed through every corridor, every polished pillar, every breath.
For this was the day of the Passing of the Sword.
A new Captain had been chosen. A new Protector of the Crown. And today, before the realm’s highest bloodlines and its ancient seals, the ritual would be completed. At the head of the grand hall, upon a raised dais of gleaming stone, the King sat upon his throne. Beside him stood the Crown Prince, resplendent in formal wear, a slender circlet resting upon his brow. The contrast between the two was striking. The Prince bore the soft beauty and gentle composure of his late mother; the King was hewn from sharper stone, all chiseled angles and commanding presence. Resting against the throne at his side was a massive battle-axe—his personal Seal. His fingers drifted along its formidable blade in an almost tender, possessive motion as he surveyed the gathering nobility.
Before the dais stood an aging, weatherworn man—broad-shouldered despite the grey at his temples, his ice-blue eyes honed and alert. Captain Fredricko Prong, soon to retire after forty years of service. One hand rested on the hilt of a sheathed sword at his belt, a weapon whose intricate designs matched the glowing Seal markings etched along his forearm. Each Captain’s bond with the Sword Seal manifested differently, and soon, those markings would pass to another.
Beside him stood Kaiven—younger, rigid with discipline, clad in full ceremonial armor, the metal polished to a mirrored sheen. It was he who would inherit the Sword today. He who had been chosen to rise as the new Captain.
The ritual circle awaited at the center of the hall: a six-pointed star inscribed into the marble floor, glowing faintly with dormant power. Four Seal Mages occupied four of the points, robed and ready, leaving the final two spaces open—for the old Captain and the new. It was a dangerous ritual—part inheritance, part awakening—and a declaration to the realm that a new era was beginning.
The time of the transfer was the most dangerous point. The split moment when there was only the faintest whisper of Seal when the contract was taken from one, before imprinted on another. The only chance the creature trapped within had at freedom.
The King rose. The simple act sufficed to hush the hall. His movement was smooth, almost predatory, and when his steely gaze swept across the chamber, even the boldest nobles fell silent. He stepped forward, leaving the axe by his throne, and spoke—his voice filling the hall effortlessly.

Fredricko dipped his head once, solemnly, and exchanged a brief, weighted glance with Kaiven. Together they stepped into the ritual circle, taking their opposite positions. A Seal Mage approached the aging Captain. Fredricko drew the sword from its sheath. The blade gleamed brilliantly under the lantern light, its etched runes shimmering in subtle harmony with the Seal markings on his skin. He handed it to the Mage.
The Mage placed the sword upon the circle’s center. Then, with a steady breath and a voice worn by decades of command, he spoke the ancient word:
