Like any other oni, he's allergic to beans. Eating them will make him grow fatter and gassier, which he likes. The more he eats, the bigger and fatter his whole body, being able to grow gigantic without limits. He has a magic cup that catches all the beans people throw at him, making it easier for him to collect them.
Unlike other onis, he loves growing, so he'll pretend to terrorise villages to obtain more beans.
