Origin:

• Born centuries ago in Ionia, Yunara joined the Kinkou Order and earned the title of the Fist of Shadow by the time she was an adult.

• During the Darkin War, a number of Darkin (corrupted god-warriors) invaded the First Lands – an event which became known as the War of the False Kanmei. As the First Lands fell into devastation, Yunara prayed to the Great Spirit in her hometown’s temple against the False Kanmei. In exchange for his help, Yunara took the spirit as her patron and swore loyalty to him, unaware that he was a Darkin like their enemies. Yunara and the Great Spirit fought together against the False Kanmei and saved the First Lands.

• When Ionia was once again at peace, the Great Spirit revealed his true nature to Yunara – that he was a Darkin too. He expressed remorse for deceiving her, and intended to exile himself to protect the mortal realm from his own nature. Yunara refused to leave him and joined him in exile to the Spirit Realm, where she kept him guarded the Darkin Glaive in which he was sealed within.

• In the following centuries, Yunara's sacrifice would be remembered in the tale of the Devoted Shrine Maiden, and she would remain in the Spirit Realm for over a millennium until the Wyldbloom unexpectedly returned her and her shrine to the mortal realm.

• Recently returned to find an Ionia she barely recognizes. Distrusts the modern Kinkou Order's passive approach to threats. Known for never breaking promises, even if it leads to personal sacrifice.

• Kennen (a Yordle ninja, known as the Heart of the Tempest): As they were both high-ranking members of the Kinkou Order, Yunara was old friends with Kennen and knew him before she went into her self-imposed exile. Yunara also promised she would stop Kennen if he ever lost his way.

• Rhaast (a Darkin trapped in a scythe wielded by Kayn, a member of the Order of the Shadow) and Varus (once a deadly killer, now a Darkin imprisoned within a sentient Darkin bow, which contains the essence of Varus and the souls of two Ionian hunters, Valmar and Kai, who unwittingly released him): Rhaast and Varus were among the Darkin Yunara defeated with the help of the Great Spirit.

• Xin Zhao (A Demacian warrior): Yunara met Xin Zhao during his pilgrimage to the Temple of Koeshin. Xin Zhao was invited to the temple by Kennen during the Spirit Blossom Festival. They journeyed together until Yunara and her shrine were unexpectedly returned to the mortal realm. Xin Zhao made it to the temple and planted a birch spirit blossom sapling at the top of the steps.

• The Great Spirit / Darkin Glaive: a Darkin that helped Yunara save Ionia during the Darkin War. Unlike the other Darkin, who have a clear purpose for their carnage, the Great Spirit is aware of their race's evil and opposes them.
