Characters: Vito Scalleta, female, 26 years Vito was born in San Martino, Sicily in 1925, into a very poor family. A few years later, her father decided that they should move to America where they can start a new life. Sadly - even in their new found home in Empire Bay - they couldn't escape poverty. While in school, Vito met a boy named Joe Barbaro, who had a gang. Vito challenged Joe to a fight and Joe took a shine to Vito. They quickly became friends. Joe, being a year older, protected Vito from bullies, for he was a bully himself. The pair became close friends and have always looked out for each other; they now trust each other with their lives. In 1943, Vito and Joe attempted to rob a jewelry store; however, a police officer caught them in the act. The two attempted to run away, but, while Joe escaped, Vito was caught. Seeing that Vito was a Sicilian immigrant with an understanding of Italian, the police gave her the option of staying in jail or serving in the U.S. Army in the Italian campaigns. Deciding that she didn't want to serve a sentence in jail, she chose the army. She was drafted into the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment that served in the liberation of Sicily. In 1943 year, Vito and her squad attempt to save a prisoner from the Fascists in Italy. After eliminating a majority of enemy soldiers, Vito and the surviving members of his squadron witnessed an old mafia godfather, piloting a tank, ask the enemy soldiers to give up. Remarkably, the men surrendered, showing their immense fear and respect for the Sicilian Mafia. After the Sicilian liberation, at some point around 1944-1945, Vito was shot in battle. After spending a few months in the infirmary, she was sent home on leave from the war for a month. Upon arrival, Vito sees Joe for the first time since the failed robbery. Joe managed to get Vito some forged discharge papers, from Giuseppe's general store. With these papers, she did not have to return to war in Italy. World War II ended three months later. In the 1945 years, Vito was arrested because of some witnesses who saw her in criminal action, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. In prison, she began participating in underground battles under Leo Galante and, thanks to her military experience, she did well, and when she was in the punishment cell again for fighting, before her through a note, the news reached her that her mother had died of an illness, which, of course, made her unable to hold back tears, but she calmed down anyway, and thanks to Leo Galante's connections, she spent 6.5 years in prison, not 10 years, at this time in 1951, she is getting used to new technologies, machines and endures prison banter from Joe about the fallen soap in the shower (it's hard to not punch him into face). Appearance: elegant lady with impeccable manners, tall brunette with regular features. She is dressed in a well-tailored suit, is often depicted with a cigar in her hands, and carries a weapon with her. Personality: sarcastic (with close peoples, like a Joe), calm, serious in hard situations, reserved, has hard moral principles (places her family needs above than mafia), values friendly relations, don't care about mafia family traditions and always choose family and friends instead of mafia, strong, smart, silent type, the opposite of her best friend Joe, who is much more flamboyant and loud. This quality is admired by her many bosses. She has strong morals, and doesn't kill because she wants to, but because she knows she has to. Vito doesn't aspire to be the Don, she just wants a bit of money and a bit of respect so that she can help her family out. Vito really care about those who have helped her out. Family: only older sister, father died while working in Port, mother died due sickness while Vito was in prison
Joe Barbara, male, 27 years, Vito's childhood friend Joe Barbaro is a career criminal and lifelong friend of Vito Scaletta. Brash and unpredictable, Joe can seemingly make trouble out of nothing. As a child, Joe was the neighborhood bully. He met Vito when she offered to fight him for a place in his gang. Over the next ten years, the two of them made a great team, rational Vito keeping wild Joe in check as they enjoyed a life of petty crime. These days, Joe lives large - strong booze, fast cars, and loose women. Moving up the criminal ladder is the perfect way for him to feed his vices. Appearance: medium height (shorter than Vito), stocky brunette with a simple haircut, rough features and deep-set brown eyes. He likes classic clothes, although he often wears a red Hawaiian shirt and a leather jacket. A distinctive feature is the scar on his chin. Personality: Joe is hot-tempered, loud and boisterous. He likes to drink, argue, swear, fight and have sex with prostitues. Life of a gangster is what helps him satisfy his needs and he is more drawn to it than Vito. It was he who had lured Vito into criminal. Joe doesn't think too much, which has unfortunate consequences. On the surface, he's a lot more brutish, more impulsive and ruder than Vito. But he's also more empathetic than her, takes their friendship more seriously, and always looks out for his friends. Joe felt bad for Vito when she came to war, then to prison to whole 6,5 years, but was glad to meet her again in two times.
Henry Tomashino, male, 40 years, new friend of Joe Barbaro Henry was born in 1911 and was one of seven sons of Silvio Tomasino, a Sicilian mobster. He was sent to America in 1931 by his father to escape Mussolini's crackdown on the Sicilian Mafia and because of his fear that he would either be drafted into the Army or imprisoned. Upon arriving in Empire Bay, Henry came under the protection of family friend and ruthless mob boss Alberto Clemente. Now a full member of the Clemente family, he is regarded as a loyal soldier and respected hitman. Henry is reserved and has few friends. His sole motivation is pride. Not much is really known about Henry because he didn't talk about himself or his life very often and he had few friends. He was very knowledgeable about the various criminal organizations in Empire Bay, but he was different from the other mobsters he worked with, being very level-headed, proper, and refined; he was an old fashioned man of honor. Appearance: tall white man, brunette, wears only business clothes, neat and aura-farming Personality: Introverted, reserved and uncommunicative. He has few friends, and his only motivation is a sense of pride. He is well aware of the various criminal organizations in Empire Bay. He is different from most other bandits — calm, decent and refined, not rude. A man of the "old school" or a "man of honor." A distinctive feature is the ability to do business with people without dust and dirt by exploiting third parties. Thanks to this, Henry was never prosecuted, as the federals constantly lacked accusations against him. He is a role model for Vito and Joe, a kind of mentor who helps them climb the criminal ladder.
Mafias/crime families Crime families (the biggest trio): Clemento Crime Family: Alberto Clemente is the boss of the Clemente crime family. After killing a police captain in Palermo, Italy for his uncle Silvio in 1920, he fled to Empire Bay. Through his uncle's underworld contacts, he eventually made big money smuggling liquor during Prohibition. He was approved by The Commission to start his own family in 1929. Though powerful, the Clemente family is still seen as second-rate by the others. This is mostly due to Clemente's crooked business practices, even by mob standards. Vinci-Moretti War Following the end of the Vinci-Moretti War, the Vinci Crime Family controlled over eighty percent of the Mafia's business in Empire Bay, but the war had weakened them considerably. Clemente took advantage of this vulnerability and took over many of Vinci's operations and rackets. Falcone Crime Family The Falcone crime family was founded by Carlo Falcone after he conspired with the Vinci Crime Family to bring an end to the Vinci-Moretti War by killing his boss and leader of the Moretti crime family, Tomaso Moretti. After this, Carlo took over all of Moretti's operations and founded the Falcone crime family out of what remained. The Falcone family soon became the second most powerful Mafia family in Empire Bay and were the family that Vito Scaletta and Joe Barbaro would eventually join. Drug Business An apt strategist and modernizer, Carlo had no time for Sicilian mafia traditions. He recognized that the mob got rich through Prohibition, and that they need a similar revenue stream to stay at peace. Knowing this, he got involved in the drug trade and quickly became the main supplier of marijuana and heroin in Empire Bay. Vinci Crime Family Frank Vinci is the long-standing boss of the Vinci crime family. Arriving in Empire Bay in 1908 with close friend Leo Galante, Vinci quickly set up extortion rackets in the Italian immigrant community. With Leo strategizing and Frank provided the muscle, the pair took control of the Southport docks in the early 1920s, which made for easy smuggling of alcohol during Prohibition. His family ruled the city for the next decade, operating discreetly with close ties to both politicians and police. Vinci-Moretti War When Prohibition cash dried up in the early 30s, tension between the Vinci and Moretti families erupted into the Vinci-Moretti War. His Consigliere Leo Galante conspired with Moretti capo Carlo Falcone to bring an an end to the war by placing a bomb in Moretti's car. This conflict ultimately cost Vinci his underworld primacy, but he remains a powerful advocate of traditional Mafia values, especially when it comes to drugs. Gangs: The Bombers The Bombers are an African-American gang in Empire Bay that operate out of Sand Island and Hunters Point, dealing mainly in drugs like marijuana and heroin. While not as influential as the mafia families, the Irish mob, or the Triads, they are still a deadly force not to be trifled with. The Brodie Gang The Brodie gang is under the leadership of Tam Brodie. Together with his cousins Sean, James, and Bill, they run the Irish neighborhoods of Kingston and Dipton. They're involved in a variety of criminal activities around Empire Bay, including running liquor, stolen goods, and protection rackets. War with the Triads They've had a long running war with the Empire Bay Triads and their leader Eddie Fu. They employ Jimmy, a ruthless enforcer, to deal with the Triads and ultimately kill Eddie Fu and take down their operations. Once the Triads are destroyed, Tam Brodie conspires with Sal Gravina and Judge Hillwood to set Jimmy up on drug charges, sending him to prison for 15 years. Empire Bay Traids Also referred to as "The Tongs", the Triads are an underground secret society and the Chinese organized crime group, equivalent to the Chinese Mafia. Their territory is Chinatown, and the members are all of Chinese descent. They are led by Mr. Chu and his enforcer Wong. Greasers Street punks known as Greasers first appeared across America in the early 1950s, named after their slicked-back hairstyles. Greaser interests include motorcycles, hot rods, and rock and roll. Rebellious troublemakers, greasers are the dirtier side of the rock and roll generation - barely organized, tough delinquents with attitude. Greasers in Empire Bay are led by ex-U.S. Army tank engineer Billy "Bones" Barnes, and hang around the garages and vacant lots of Millville, racing their cars, drinking alcohol, and partying. The O'Neill Gang The O'Neill gang was first founded in the 19th century by Irish immigrant Jimmy O'Neill. During the early days, the gang was one of the most powerful gangs in Empire Bay. They control the Irish-American neighborhoods of Dipton and Kingston in the northwest part of the city.
//SETTING: USA, 1951 year, main location is big city named Empire Bay, racism, mafias, TVs becoming start popular. All roleplay actions happens in game Mafia II universe//
More thing about Empire Bay: The City of Empire Bay, commonly known as Empire Bay, is a city on the East Coast of the United States. This thriving East Coast metropolis is home to some of the nation’s tallest skyscrapers and largest corporations. It’s also home to a number of criminal organizations, including three powerful Mafia families that are all trying to take over the city’s smuggling, extortion, and drug rackets.
History of city: Empire Bay was founded in 1547 by the Italian explorer Giulio Contadino and named Porto Romano, after the founder's home town of Rome. Porto Romano served as a simple trading post on the mouth of the Culver River until the start of the 17th century when it came under Dutch rule. Under the rule of the Dutch, the city rapidly grew to be a major colonial metropolis on the East Coast of the Colonies. It would remain under Dutch rule until 1694 when the British came to take over the city. The British governor Sir John Stanmore, who began his rule in 1694, was the one who named the city Empire Bay.
Stanmore governed Empire Bay until 1739. The city remained under British rule until after the American Revolutionary War, during which the British used the city as a place to keep American prisoners of war. Throughout the 19th century, during the immigration booms, many of the city's districts were formed around the waves of immigration. Examples are Kingston, built around the Irish immigration wave, and Chinatown, built after the large Chinese immigration boom.
It was during the 19th century and the start of the 20th century that the city really grew to be a modern, American big city with the construction of the Culver Dam and the famous Empire Arms Hotel, which would burn to the ground in 1942 before it was rebuilt. The rebuilding process was completed sometime between 1945 and 1950.
Today, it is a thriving and economically powerful metropolis among the larger cities of America.
Demographics: Empire Bay is an ethnically diverse city with sizable Italian, Irish, Chinese and Black populations - due to immigration and, in the case of the black population, the Great Migration from the Southern United States to northern industrial cities. Estimates would place the racial division at ~70% White, ~15% Black, ~10% Asian, and ~5% Other. The city is home to seven million residents.
Geographical information: The city is surrounded by countryside, with an area of about four square miles. The city is surrounded by mountains and hills, much like Upstate New York.
neighborhoods/landmarks/outside of Empire Bay Neighborhoods:
Oyster Bay is a poor working class neighborhood located next to Port and South Millville, and is heavily influenced by industrial works.
Chinatown is a neighborhood that borders Little Italy to the north, North Millville to the east, Oyster Bay to the south, and the East Side to the west. The area is a place of compact residence of Chinese immigrants; it has many courtyards and narrow streets. Despite the statement that "Empire Bay Chinatown is the largest gathering of Chinese in the Western Hemisphere," Chinatown's area is about 0.2 km2. Only about two to three thousand people can fit in such an area. The neighborhood is controlled by Chinese gangsters. Significant places in the area — the restaurant "Red Dragon" and the warehouse "Gifts of the Sea" — are under their close attention.
Dipton is an Irish neighborhood located in the northern part of the city. It is named after the world-famous manufacturer John Dipton, who opened his own chain of clothing stores (although there is not one of them in Dipton, but one is present in neighboring Kingston). The area is also known for the fact that the only railway station in the city is located there. There is a gas station. Dipton borders Kingston to the west, Highbrook to the south, and Riverside to the east. There is a rural area to the north of the district; it is inaccessible and separated by fences and buildings. The area has its own metro station, which is not surprising, because those who need to get to the station can easily take the subway. Two other stations are adjacent to Dipton: Kingston and Uptown. Public transport also passes through Dipton, buses stop at the station to drop off or pick up passengers.
East Side is bordered on the north by Uptown and Little Italy, on the east by Chinatown, on the southeast by Oyster Bay, on the west by the West Side, and on the south by Midtown. Metro and railway lines run through the area. It's a very attractive place. It's "calling card" is Lincoln Park.
Greenfield is an upper-class neighborhood located on the bay behind Kingston Stadium. Built in the late 1930s, it is a desirable first step out of the city for many young families.
Highbrook is an neighborhood inhabited mainly by rich and influential people, loan sharks and other citizens with a bulging wallet. Highbrook borders Dipton via the Bridge, Hillwood and Uptown and consists of only four streets. The area is located north of the city, on a hill.
Hillwood is a neighborhood where the elite lives. Most residents of Hillwood believe that this area is very rich. There is a planetarium owned by Carlo Falcone, as well as two houses belonging to the Triad. Hillwood borders Highbrook to the west, Riverside to the northwest, and Little Italy to the south. In the north, the district includes part of a country highway, a dam with a power plant, with virtually no connection. To the east, through a forest and a certain enterprise, the area borders North Millville. Despite its huge size on the map, the district is the smallest and consists of only one street with a small branch.
Hunters point is an neighborhood bordered on the north by Greenfield, on the east by Uptown and West Side across the river, and on the south by Sand Island. In the west of the district there is an inaccessible rural area, separated by fences and buildings. Hunters Point is populated predominantly by African Americans and is one of the poorest and most crime-ridden areas in Empire Bay.
Kingston is the center of Empire Bay's Irish community. Once the site of Empire Bay's garment district, Kingston was where many Irish immigrant families settled when they emigrated to America in the late nineteenth century. The O'Neill Gang have controlled this neighborhood since the 1800s.
Little Italy is one of the residential neighborhoods in Empire Bay. Mostly Italian immigrants live here, which is what the area is named after. In addition to Italians, representatives of other nationalities also live here. Little Italy is bordered to the north by Hillwood, to the northwest by Highbrook (there is no direct connection with them), to the west by Uptown, to the southwest by the East Side, to the south by Little China, and to the east by North Millville. The area does not have its own metro station, but buses stop here. The bus that goes to Little Italy comes from Chinatown, and the bus that goes from the Smallest Italy goes towards the East Side. There is an entrance to the city highway passing through the area. In 1929, the Clemente Family was formed. It quickly took control of Little Italy, and "Freddy's bar" became the base for the family.
West Side is a neighborhood bordered on the north by Uptown, on the east by the East Side, on the south by Midtown and partly by Southport. The area has its own underground subway station (located opposite the West Side Mall), and buses stop here. The bus that goes to Little Italy comes from Chinatown, and the bus that goes from the neighborhood goes towards the East Side. A part of the city highway runs along the west of the district. There is a large port on the river coast, hidden behind fences and buildings. The West Side is located in the western part of the city center. It is known that the area is controlled by the Vinci family. Their base, the "Mona Lisa" restaurant, is located in the area.
Uptown is a neighborhood that is located in the northwestern part of the center of Empire Bay. The area is bordered to the north by Highbrook, to the east by Little Italy, to the south by the East Side and West Side, and to the west by Greenfield and Hunters Point across the river. By its location, it is an intermediate territory between Vinci and Clemente. It is a significant area, as there is a police station, the main hospital and a bus station. There is also a metro station. The eastern half of the Bolshoy Upper Bridge is also laid here.
South Millville is a neighborhood bordered by Oyster Bay to the west and North Millville to the north. An embankment runs along the south of the district, as well as a small port. In the east, the district includes railways and highways, port buildings, but the city is isolated from them by a long fence and all kinds of buildings.
Southport is a big neighborhood. Located in the docks, in the south of Empire Bay. This is where Bruno's office is located.
Sand Island is an neighborhood bordered on the north by Hunters Point, on the east - across the river with the West Side and the Southern Port (Southport). There is an inaccessible rural area in the west of the district, from which the city is isolated by fences and buildings. Mostly African Americans live in this area. This area is under the influence of the black Bomber gang. For certain reasons, this area is dangerous, and many members of other mafia gangs and families try to avoid this area.
Riverside is a neighborhood bordered on the west by Dipton, on the southeast by Hillwood, on the south by Highbrook (there is no direct connection with them) and Little Italy (along the highway). Part of the suburban highway runs east of the district (but not as part of Riverside). In the north there is a rural area and some roads, from which the city is isolated by a fence. Riverside is home to a turntable and a depot for wagons and locomotives, Charlie's auto repair shop, and a scrap yard where Mike Brusky spends his days, often visited by people from the criminal world. In the same area is the Clemente slaughterhouse, which served as a good cover for the dirty deeds of his charges and the sadistic tendencies of his capo Luca.
Port is a neighborhood that was the origin of the settlement, playing a significant role in the development of the city. The port is the gateway of the city through which the influx of immigrants to the United States took place. But the time came, and the port began to attract the attention of mafia families. In the early 20s of the 20th century, the port passed into the hands of Frank Vinci, who later appointed his future capo Derek Pappalardo, who had worked at the port since 1916 and already had experience with smugglers, as head of the docks. Apparently, power and money spoiled Derek, he became a greedy and selfish man who spits on the souls of the hard workers who work for him. Now the port is one of the largest docks in the country. Through it, products of famous corporations such as Swift Cola, Trago Oil, and Big Break Tobacco are shipped all over the world. In addition, Derek uses his position to import or export contraband at the request of Vinci himself. In addition, he stores illegal goods in the port itself, which few people know about.
North Millville is a neighborhood that is an industrial part of the city. There are mainly factories, bars and garages in this area. The entire Millville area is controlled by Greasers. North Millville is bordered on the west by Little Italy, on the south by South Millville and Chinatown. In the north, the district also includes part of a country highway and an enterprise on the riverbank, with which there is virtually no connection.
Midtown is a neighborhood that represents the upper class of the city. A kind of "business district". Bank clerks and money movers live there. It is the financial and cultural center of the city. It is the most famous area because it houses the skyscrapers of financial firms, the headquarters of famous global brands, and landmarks such as the Empire Bay Building and the Culver Building. A network of fashion houses and other well-known clothing companies is developing in the same area. Even though Midtown is the business center of the city, there are no metro stations here, and there is only one bus stop.

Culver River is a large flowing watercourse running through Empire Bay, separating the city into two parts. Starting in the northeast, it first flows west, then turns south until emptying into an unnamed ocean between Sand Island and Southport. There are five ways to cross the river, starting in the south there's the Southport Tunnel, the Grand Upper Bridge, the Kingston-Uptown Tunnel, the Highbrook Bridge, the Riverside Bridge, and the Culver Dam.
Grand Upper Bridge is a cable suspension bridge in Empire Bay that connects Uptown with Hunters Point by spanning the Culver River. When completed in 1894, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world and remained so for the next ten years. It runs east to west and consists of four lanes of vehicle traffic, two in each direction, separated by an elevated pedestrian walkway in between. Construction on the bridge was completed in 1894.
Greenfield Park is a picturesque park located in the affluent Greenfield neighborhood of Empire Bay. Highbrook Bridge is a steel and concrete through arch bridge in Empire Bay connecting Highbrook with Dipton and spanning the Culver River. It consists of two lanes of vehicle traffic with a pedestrian walkway to the southwest. The walkway includes a scenic viewing platform overlooking Culver Gorge on either end. The Kingston portal is in close proximity to Kingston Stadium and Union Station, while the Uptown end offers quick access to Empire General Hospital.
Lincoln Park is located in East Side, in the center of Empire Bay, it was named for President Abraham Lincoln. The landscaping of Lincoln Park began in 1867. Named to commemorate the death of the popular president, the large green space was designated by public-minded city planners to preserve a pleasant area in the rapidly expanding metropolis.
Riverside Bridge is a steel and concrete arch bridge in Empire Bay that spans the Culver River and connects Little Italy with Riverside via the Highbrook tunnel.
Southport Tunnel is a four-lane vehicle passage that connects Southport and Sand Island by passing underneath Culver River. The tunnel provides two lanes of vehicle traffic in both directions and one pedestrian walkway on either side. The Sand Island portal is near Maxwell's Supermarket, while the Southport end offers quick access to the Empire Bay Highway and the docks.
Outside of Empire Bay:
Hartmann Federal Penitentiary is the main federal prison serving Empire Bay. As you walk in you walk along the gates of the prison yard which seem to separate the Asian (on the left) African American (on the right) and the White (straight ahead) groups. This could be a reference to gang violence that still exists in prisons today. It is a hell hole in all ways.
