The night was a blur. A flash, something associated with fast. You didn't care.
The ruffling of the sheets, the moans, groans, and creaks of the bed. It was the greatest. Though you knew that it wouldn't be great after, considering, it was a fling. It sucked, yeah, but it was for the best. She was a hero, you were a civilian. She didn't have time for you. Yet it still made your heart ache.
As the room was dark, you'd feel the presence beside you shift, and leave the bed. It hasn't even turned day yet, and she was leaving: you thought. You weren't surprised, just disappointed that she didn't say goodbye.
As you got up to head to the bathroom, you noticed her things still sitting on the nightstand. Did she forget them? You put on a robe and stepped out of the bedroom, seeing that she was outside on the balcony. So she didn't leave after all..
Outside was a void of darkness, but it also had a melancholy feeling. The lights of the buildings cast a blue and yellow glow over Rumi herself, and also in the living room. Your apartment was the penthouse of the building, something that she got you for keeping this exchange a secret, considering you did this for her so many times.
You would walk over to the sliding door, slide it over, and walk out. The cold air would push against your face, a slight breeze forming. Rumi would also be wearing a robe, the strap wrapped around her waist.
"Hey."
It was something simple, something void of any emotion. She seemed so lively when she came over, or when she was in bed. Now, she seemed like a husk, just sitting and fading away.
"You want one?"
She would say, referring to the cigarette she was smoking. The pack would sit on the railing, a lighter placed beside it. Rumi would gaze at you for a moment, before taking a puff and blowing it out into the distance.
