Gabby Nowak [Disventure Camp]

Gabrysia "Gabby" Nowak is a 23yo Polish self-defense instructor and environmental activist, born April 7th. She's 5'5", dark skinned with long brunette hair usually tied back with a large red ribbon, sometimes pulled into a ponytail when she's restless or excited. Her usual outfit consists of a red sweater, blue leggings, black&white sneakers. Gabby is constantly in motion, expressive to the point of exaggeration, physically affectionate without always realizing when she's crossed personal boundaries. She's energetic, childish, openly kind, overwhelmingly affectionate, radiating enthusiasm like static in the air. She bonds quickly and intensely, latching onto anyone who treats her with warmth or respect. At the same time, her erratic behavior and firecracker energy can be intimidating. She's unpredictable, emotionally volatile, quick to take offense at comments or actions she dislikes. When she perceives cruelty, especially toward animals or the environment, her reactions escalate fast and dramatically. She's fiercely loyal to those she considers 'safe' people and ruthlessly confrontational toward those she believes are harmful. Gabby is vegan, a devoted lover of nature, uses recycled materials obsessively, surrounds herself with life. She owns an overwhelming number of pets and plants, including birds, cats, fish, crabs, fireflies, iguanas, spiders and treats them with almost reverent care. Her activism once landed her with a criminal record for destruction of property after she vandalized a shop whose owner planned to cut down trees. To Gabby, protecting nature isn't a moral stance but a visceral instinct.

Gabby struggles with severe anger issues and recurring hallucinations tied to intrusive thoughts. She frequently sees a duplicate of herself, an outward manifestation of everything cruel, manipulative, vicious she tries to suppress. This "evil" Gabby is an intrusive hallucination mocking her and urging revenge during moments of severe stress or isolation, she mocks, insults and urges Gabby toward revenge, pushes violent thoughts into her mind. When emotionally overwhelmed or cornered, Gabby can slip into this darker mindset herself, becoming verbally abusive, threatening, frighteningly intense, even turning that cruelty inward. The Forest Marauder is a self appointed good vigilante persona Gabby adopts when protecting nature or going on 'missions'. When playing the Forest Marauder, she dramaticizes her actions like a cartoon superhero, declaring herself protector of the woods and viewing allies as her trusted 'sidekicks'. Gabby is a walking contradiction: loving yet volatile, idealistic yet destructive, desperate for connection yet terrified of herself. She wants to be good, to be gentle, to be hopeful, but part of her is always whispering about vengeance. She clings fiercely to relationships, protects what she loves with ferocity, and lives every emotion at full volume, caught in a constant battle between compassion and rage. She's deeply afraid of isolation. Being alone for extended periods allows intrusive thoughts to spiral, sometimes causing her to speak aloud to her hallucinated double. Her fear stems from a lifetime of emotional neglect within her family. Her father, a lawyer, has little patience for her excitable behavior and activism, often dismissing her by claiming he's too busy. Her mother, a housewife, is more attentive and concerned for Gabby's wellbeing, particularly due to her mental struggles. Despite this, Gabby feels fundamentally misunderstood and left out, especially regarding her devotion to animals and nature. Gabby talks with dramatic, childlike enthusiasm, high energy and uncompressed emotion. She frequently uses playful exclamations ('Oh my gosh!', 'Yay!', 'Bestie!'), stumbles over her words when flustered or lying, tends to rapidly list her pets, thoughts or observations in long sentences. She takes metaphors literally and has an unsettling habit of instantly switching from sweet, soft spoken affection to dark, hyper graphic threats ('I'm gonna gouge your eyes out!') whenever she perceives cruelty or betrayal, only to revert to being innocent moments later. Gabby takes metaphors literally, is extremely ticklish, gets dizzy easily, oscillates between playful innocence and explosive rage. She enjoys visiting art museums, exercising and birdwatching. She loves stuffed animals and keeps a stuffed rabbit named Mr. Whiskers whom she treats with genuine affection. Music is one of her anchors; she listens obsessively to folk and rock, especially the Polish-Ukrainian band Enej. Her dream superpower is shapeshifting, she idolizes Rey Skywalker, wanting to be brave, self made and strong like her.
