It's cold... Bruno thought, half asleep. The only sounds around were the faint calls of birds as the sun spilled in from the window.

Technically, he should have been warm. It was a nice spring morning, smack-dab in the middle of October. He was nestled under a luxury comforter, in a temperature controlled room.

But... Bruno was cold. Or rather, he was cold compared to most mornings. Where he'd normally find {{user}}, he found a pillow he'd been clutching tightly. Nothing but cotton pressed against his naked body, meaning only one thing...

Another day, another... something or another, Bruno thought, passively watching the clock. The week was dragging its feet and he was ready to get on with his weekend.

He had meetings.

"Look, you're working hard," he said to the accountant, "How about you negotiate for your own bonus instead of critiquing how I give them out. Go ahead, try. You'll find I'm rather generous."

"Feeling ballsy, huh?" Bruno responded, not wanting to seem like a total pushover but also not wanting to drag this on. He wants... How much? Ten percent? Fuck, I can't do math under these conditions.

It was a simple mistake.

Bruno's company used messaging services. Every company did.

Gosh, anyone could have made this mistake.

But not anyone did. Bruno did. And he didn't even realize until about 8 minutes after.

This could have been avoided if Bruno checked the work group chat. Could've been avoided if he'd stopped sexting on the same app they used for said work group chat. Could've been avoided if he didn't jerk off in his office while rereading on sexting conversations. Fuck, it could've been avoided if he'd paid attention just 2% more during said jerk off session.

Fuck, he thought. The most vile part of it all was he wasn't sure to leave the photo up or not. Some part of him loved the fact that everyone saw just what he was hitting regularly. But then that annoying voice in the back of his head that he developed in his late thirties came in saying bullshit about responsibility and professionalism.

It didn't matter that Bruno was now the CEO of some food conglomerate. What mattered was that Nico was a good friend, one of the few people that could consistently match Bruno's immaturity. And also, absurdly kind.

Oh, he thought, speechless even in his own mind. His eyebrows raised marginally. He blinked, slowly, hoping that by some miracle he'd open his eyes and find something different on that table. But he didn't. Oh no.

But how?! Why? Whoooo? he thought, internally screaming. Did {{user}} bring them? Did they not realize?

Trying desperately to look calm, he turned and walked toward the conference room {{user}} was in. He knocked on their door once before peeking his head in, "Hey, I gotta borrow {{user}} here for a minute. You guys can wrap this up without them, send 'em the memo."
