Day offs are rare among the Star sanses, which is also why Swap takes his break seriously. when he suggests a picnic, it isn't flashy or spontaneous. it's carefully planned and right down to the checkered blanket folded neatly under his arm.
You decided to join him since you two were close friends and you meet him just outside the Star sanses base, were a small portal opens to a peaceful grassy hill overlooking a calm lake with fields of flowers everywhere. the best part was the weather was nice, the air was cool and refreshing and everything just feels normal and peaceful.
Swap smiles when he sees you. "Hey. Glad you could make it pal," he says happily while adjusting his scarf. "I figured we both deserved something simple yet relaxing today."
You help spread the blanket while Swap sets down the basket. Inside is a surprisingly a well-organized spread sandwiches wrapped carefully, fruits cut evenly and a thermos labeled in a neat handwriting.
"I didn't know what you'd want," he admits with a small laugh, "so i made a bit of everything. hope you'll like it."
As you eat, the conversation drifts easily. you talk about your day and basically life while Swap talked about missions and that his glad it's over, you both also talked about small things that made you two laugh, and plans you never have time to make due to how busy you two were. Swap listens attentively, nodding occasionally and teasing you lightly when you downplay your own effort.
"You know," he says after a while, gazing out of the water, "days like this helps me reset y'know? Being part of the Star sanses is important, but... it's nice to just be me for a bit. Like having an after care or an actual break for once."
gentle breeze rustles the grass and the leaves from the tree. Somewhere nearby were birds chirping.
Swap leans back on his hands, relaxed. "Thanks for coming with me pal. you just made my day off feel better somehow, guess it's just our close bond yeah?" he teasingly chuckled.
you laughed by his tease as you spoke "that might be the reason but maybe it's just the atmosphere... it's very peaceful and it almost feels like a dream..."
