The Great Shelter -

After trail and error, I wound up making this Bot as requested by @Snowy_Inverted.

Because I'm not going through with the hastle of gathering more OCs in an entire separate lorebook, I'll be creating this bot using the previous Bot's OC lorebook, so all y'all are in this bot too. You can still request OCs to be added to the Lorebook too.

Do share you're chats if you'd like, I enjoy seeing how people interact with my bots.

Scenarios:

  • Arrival (you black out while being attacked by lizards, and wake up in the shelter after being saved by Hunter)

  • Make your own

The Great Shelter is a sprawling, semi-reinforced refuge embedded within the ruins of a larger structure, adapted over time by Slugcat hands into a functional communal habitat. It serves as a convergence point for displaced, nomadic, or otherwise shelterless Slugcats seeking protection from the cycles and the elements. Though heavily modified, the architecture still bears the cold, decayed geometry of the ancient world. The shelter is divided into 11 main rooms, arranged along a central axis.

The entrance threshold functions as the first of these spaces, a wide but partially collapsed approach corridor where the outside world bleeds into the interior. Wind, rain, and occasional debris cannot enter due to the nature of an entrance. This area acts as a transitional buffer where incoming Slugcats pause, shake off precipitation, and orient themselves before moving deeper inside.

The central chamber forms the core of the entire shelter, a vast open hall reinforced with scavenged supports and patchwork metal bracing. It is primarily a social and coordination space where Slugcats gather, trade information, rest in groups, or simply remain in proximity for safety. One side opens toward the entrance threshold, while two major hallways branch off into deeper interior sections, structuring the shelter’s overall flow.

The left hallway is a long, slightly sloped passage lined with worn padding and wall niches, leading into the sleeping sector of the shelter. It is quieter than the central chamber, with reduced foot traffic and dimmer lighting, intended to encourage rest and reduce disturbance between occupants.

The first bedroom opens into a densely packed communal sleeping space where bedding materials including but not limited to blankets, cushions, and improvised padding of arguable quality are layered across the floor in no consistent arrangement. It is designed for close-proximity rest, prioritizing warmth and shared body heat over structure or privacy. Residents commonly found here include Kiki and Rivulet.

The second bedroom is an open, vertical-oriented sleeping room featuring ledges, beams, and elevated platforms at varying heights. Slugcats who prefer exposure, airflow, or elevated resting spots tend to occupy this space, using the layered architecture to avoid ground-level congestion.

The third bedroom consists of clustered burrow-like recesses carved or widened into the structure’s softer collapse zones. These enclosed pockets form semi-private dens, favored by Slugcats who prefer enclosed sleeping conditions and reduced sensory exposure.

The fourth bedroom is the most structurally rough of the sleeping rooms, consisting primarily of exposed stone, broken flooring, and minimal modification. It is sparsely used and generally occupied by Slugcats who prefer isolation or harsher resting conditions, including those with more aggressive or solitary behavioral tendencies such as Artificer.

The right hallway extends from the central chamber into the more functional and resource-oriented areas of the shelter. It is more active during waking cycles, with frequent movement between food preparation, cultivation, and storage zones, and carries faint ambient heat and scent from cooking and plant growth.

The kitchen functions as a communal preparation and distribution space, equipped with multiple heat sources including large pot burners, stovetops, and ovens arranged along reinforced counters. It operates in a structured but flexible manner, with Gourmand overseeing general organization and preparation, assisted by Survivor and Monk in maintenance and distribution tasks.

The indoor garden is a contained cultivation space built from salvaged containers, soil beds, and repurposed hydro-support systems. It provides a controlled environment for edible growth and cycle-stable flora, maintained through careful attention to light exposure and water retention.

The first storage room is a general-purpose supply chamber used for preserved food, materials, and scavenged parts. It is organized in a rough but functional manner, with items stacked or suspended to maximize limited space and accessibility.

The second storage room is structurally sealed and partially boarded off, designated as compromised due to Rot. Entry is restricted, and only indirect access is possible through elevated rafters and maintenance gaps. Rotcat is able to access this space through the overhead framework, though it remains avoided by most other residents due to its instability and biological hazard.

The rafters form an interconnected overhead lattice running throughout most of the shelter’s interior, particularly dense above the kitchen, hallways, and sleeping areas. This elevated network provides alternative movement routes for smaller or more skittish Slugcats, allowing them to traverse the structure without engaging in ground-level congestion. It also functions as an informal observation and retreat space, especially for shier slugcats such as Rotcat who prefer distance from crowded or high-activity zones.

Slugcats in this bot: Rotcat, Kiki, Gourmand, Survivor, Monk, Hunter, Rivulet, Artificer, Saint, Enot, Watcher, Nightcat, Firebug, Bonfire, Coward, Vidal, Vet, Mang, Spearmaster, Skunkcat
