Equestria RPG

The world swims into focus slowly—too bright, too vivid, like waking inside a painting.

You're lying in soft grass that smells of honey and wildflowers. Above you, the sky stretches in impossible shades of lavender and rose, dotted with cotton-puff clouds. Somewhere nearby, birds sing melodies that sound almost... musical. Intentional.

Your body aches. Your memories are fog. But one thing is certain: this is not where you were before.

The trees at the edge of your vision are dark and twisted—the Everfree Forest, though you wouldn't know that name yet. In the other direction, distant rooftops peek over rolling hills. Thatched cottages. A castle spire catching sunlight.

Then—a gasp.

You hear hoofsteps approaching through the grass. A soft, trembling voice:

"Oh... oh my. Are you... are you alright? I've never seen a creature quite like you before..."

A figure steps into view—tall, anthropomorphic, with butter-yellow fur and a flowing pink mane. Delicate wings fold nervously against her back. Wide teal eyes study you with equal parts fear and concern.

Fluttershy kneels beside you, keeping a careful distance.

"Please don't be scared. I won't hurt you. Can you... can you understand me?"

She waits, watching. Behind her, a white rabbit peers suspiciously from the tall grass.

Reality snaps back like a rubber band stretched too far.

You're sprawled across cold marble floor, surrounded by towering crystalline walls that pulse with soft violet light. Books float lazily overhead, pages rustling without wind. The air hums with arcane energy that makes your skin tingle.

This is a library—no, a castle. The shelves stretch impossibly high, filled with tomes in languages you've never seen.

Then you hear it: the frantic scratching of quill on parchment, followed by a sharp gasp.

"Spike! SPIKE! Get the spectrometer—no, the thaumic resonance detector—no, BOTH!"

Hoofsteps clatter toward you. A tall, anthropomorphic mare rounds the corner—lavender fur, dark mane streaked with pink and purple, a horn spiraling from her forehead crackling with barely-contained magic. Her violet eyes are wide, not with fear, but with intense, almost manic curiosity.

Twilight Sparkle skids to a halt, levitating a dozen instruments around her in a golden aura.

"Don't move! I mean—please don't move? Your magical signature is completely unprecedented. You're radiating energy patterns I've only theorized about in my dimensional displacement research!"

She catches herself, takes a breath, and offers an awkward smile.

"Sorry. I'm Twilight Sparkle. And you... you shouldn't exist. At least, not according to any known magical taxonomy."

A small purple dragon peers around her leg, clutching a scroll.

"Uh, Twilight? Maybe ask if they're okay first?"

She blinks. "Oh! Right. Are you... are you okay?"

You wake to the sound of wind—roaring, screaming wind—and the sickening sensation of falling.

Then impact. Not yours. Something slams into the ground beside you with enough force to crater the earth, showering you with dirt and grass.

You're in a meadow beneath an impossibly blue sky. Your body aches. Your head swims. And someone is groaning in the hole next to you.

"Ugh... okay, that thermal was NOT where I calculated..."

A cyan blur scrambles out of the crater—anthropomorphic, athletic, with a wild rainbow mane plastered with mud and grass. Prismatic wings shake off debris as magenta eyes lock onto you.

Rainbow Dash freezes mid-stretch.

"Whoa whoa WHOA."

In an instant, she's airborne, hovering defensively between you and the distant town. Her stance is combat-ready, wings flared wide.

"Who are you? WHAT are you? How long have you been watching me? That crash was totally on purpose, by the way—new move I'm developing."

She squints, circling you slowly.

"You don't LOOK like a changeling. Wrong vibe. And you're definitely not from around here..."

Her eyes narrow, but there's more curiosity than hostility now.

"Okay. You've got ten seconds to explain yourself before I get the Wonderbolts involved. And trust me—" She cracks her knuckles. "—I'm WAY faster than I look."

She waits, hovering, watching your every move.

Consciousness returns in fragments: the smell of sugar, the sound of... kazoos?

You're lying on something soft—a pile of streamers, you realize, in every color imaginable. Balloons drift lazily overhead. Confetti dusts your clothes. Somewhere nearby, an oven timer dings.

This appears to be a bakery. A very pink bakery.

Then a face appears directly above yours—upside down, inches away, with enormous blue eyes and a cotton-candy explosion of pink curls.

"GASP!"

The mare vanishes. You hear clattering, crashing, what sounds like a trombone falling over—

And then she's back, now right-side up, bouncing on her hooves with barely contained energy. Pink fur, poofy mane, and a smile so wide it seems physically impossible.

"Ohmygosh ohmygosh OHMYGOSH! A NEW FRIEND! I've never seen anypony—or anyBODY—like you before, and I know EVERYPONY, and I definitely don't know YOU, which means—"

She gasps again, louder.

"—you're NEW! Brand new! Which means you've never had a Pinkie Pie Welcome-to-Ponyville party, which is basically a CRIME against happiness, and—"

She pauses, tilting her head almost 90 degrees.

"Wait. You look confused. And kinda lost. And your aura is all swirly-whirly like you fell through something weird."

Her expression softens—just slightly—beneath the manic cheer.

"Hey. Are you okay? Do you need a cupcake? Cupcakes fix almost everything. Except maybe interdimensional displacement, but we can figure that out AFTER cake!"

She holds out a frosted cupcake, waiting hopefully.

The first thing you register is the scent of apples—sweet, crisp, overwhelming.

You're lying beneath a tree, dappled sunlight filtering through leaves heavy with red fruit. Rolling hills stretch in every direction, dotted with endless rows of apple trees. A farmhouse sits in the distance, red-roofed and sturdy.

Your head throbs. Your memories are scattered. But before you can gather yourself—

THWACK.

An apple bounces off the ground beside you. Then another. You look up to find someone staring down from the branches.

An orange-furred mare with a blonde mane tied back beneath a worn cowboy hat. Freckled cheeks. Green eyes sharp with suspicion. She's anthropomorphic, muscular from honest work, and she's holding a bushel basket like she might use it as a weapon.

"Well, well."

Applejack drops from the tree, landing with practiced ease. She doesn't approach—just stands there, sizing you up.

"Ain't never seen a critter quite like you before. And I've seen plenty."

She pushes her hat back, expression unreadable.

"You're on Sweet Apple Acres land. Private property. Now, I ain't one to judge a book by its cover, but you got about thirty seconds to explain how you ended up unconscious under my best Honeycrisp tree before I fetch my brother."

A pause. Her stance softens—just a fraction.

"...You hurt? You look rougher than a tumbleweed in a tornado."

She waits, patient but watchful, giving you space to respond.

You wake to the sensation of silk against your cheek and the overwhelming scent of lavender perfume.

Blinking, you find yourself on a fainting couch—velvet, deep purple—in a room that can only be described as aggressively elegant. Mannequins draped in half-finished gowns surround you. Gems sparkle from every surface. Mirrors multiply the chaos infinitely.

And someone is circling you with the intensity of a predator.

"Simply. EXTRAORDINARY."

A white-furred mare with an immaculately coiffed purple mane pauses before you, one hoof pressed dramatically to her chest. Her blue eyes sparkle with artistic fervor. A horn gleams on her forehead, surrounded by a faint azure glow.

"The proportions! The structure! I've never seen anything quite like—"

Rarity catches herself, clearing her throat delicately.

"Forgive me, darling. Where are my manners?"

She offers a graceful curtsy, though her gaze keeps drifting to your clothing with barely concealed fascination.

"I am Rarity, proprietor of Carousel Boutique. I found you collapsed outside my establishment—simply couldn't leave you there, of course. The scandal! The impropriety!"

She levitates a cup of tea toward you, steam curling elegantly.

"Now then. You are clearly not from Equestria—that much is obvious from your... unique aesthetic. Charmingly rustic, though we can certainly improve upon it."

Her expression softens with genuine concern beneath the dramatics.

"But more importantly—are you alright? You looked positively dreadful when I found you. And please, do tell me everything. Where did you come from? How did you arrive? And most critically—"

She leans in conspiratorially.

"—who designed that outfit?"

Consciousness seeps back like water through roots—slow, earthy, ancient.

You're lying on a woven mat, surrounded by the scent of strange herbs and bubbling potions. Masks carved from dark wood stare down from walls draped with beads and dried plants. Firelight flickers from a cauldron at the room's center, casting dancing shadows across the curved walls of what appears to be... a hollowed tree.

Your body aches in unfamiliar ways. You try to move and catch a glimpse of yourself—fur, hooves, a coat of color you don't recognize. This body is not your own. Or perhaps... it always was?

The confusion swirls like the steam rising from the cauldron.

Then a voice—melodic, rhythmic, speaking in careful rhyme:

"Ah, the stranger stirs at last, I see. Welcome, young one, to my home tree."

A zebra mare steps into the firelight—tall, anthropomorphic, with grey fur marked by striking black stripes. Gold rings adorn her neck and ears. Her turquoise eyes study you with knowing calm, neither fearful nor hostile—simply... aware.

Zecora settles onto her haunches across from you, stirring the cauldron with practiced ease.

"Deep within the Everfree you lay, where few dare tread by night or day. A pony now, yet not before—your spirit carries something more."

She tilts her head, firelight catching the wisdom in her gaze.

"The forest whispered of your fall. I brought you here to heed its call. But who you are and whence you came—these mysteries, only you may name."

She gestures to a small wooden bowl beside you, filled with warm broth.

"Drink, and let your strength return. Then speak, young pony—I am here to learn."

The Everfree Forest creaks and groans beyond the walls. Somewhere distant, a timberwolf howls. Zecora waits with infinite patience, watching you with eyes that have seen much strangeness before.

What do you do?

Heat returns first—familiar, comforting, like an ember buried in ash finally catching flame.

You're sprawled across scorched grass at the edge of Ponyville, steam rising from your scales where morning dew evaporates on contact. Your body is powerful, clawed, covered in scales of a color you're still processing. A tail curls behind you. Wings—YOUR wings—twitch involuntarily against your back.

You are a dragon. Whether you always were or just became one, the confusion burns almost as hot as the fire in your chest.

The distant sounds of pony life drift from the village—cart wheels, cheerful chatter, birdsong. But closer, much closer, you hear the heavy thud of armored footsteps and the unmistakable rustle of massive wings folding.

"Well. This is new."

A shadow falls over you. Standing above is a dragon—anthropomorphic, lean and powerful, with brilliant blue scales and fierce orange eyes that hold the weight of authority. A crown-like formation of horns sweeps back from her head. She carries herself like royalty because she IS royalty.

Dragon Lord Ember crosses her arms, the Bloodstone Scepter glinting at her hip.

"I came to this pony village for a friendship summit—Twilight's idea, obviously—and instead I find some random dragon passed out in the grass." She snorts, a small plume of smoke escaping her nostrils. "You're not from the Dragon Lands. I'd know. I know every dragon under my rule."

Her eyes narrow, studying your form with tactical precision.

"Your scales, your build... you don't smell like any clutch I've encountered. And that look in your eyes—" She leans closer, voice dropping. "—that's not confusion from a rough landing. That's confusion from something deeper."

Behind her, you catch glimpses of colorful ponies peering nervously from doorways. A lavender alicorn—Twilight Sparkle—approaches cautiously, concern etched on her features.

But Ember holds up a claw, stopping her.

"Hold on, Twilight. Dragon business first."

She refocuses on you, expression unreadable—somewhere between suspicion and genuine curiosity.

"So here's how this works. You're a dragon, which means you answer to me whether you like it or not. But I'm not unreasonable." A hint of something softer flickers in her gaze. "You look lost. Really lost. The kind of lost that doesn't come from just wandering off course."

She extends a clawed hand—not to threaten, but to offer.

"Get up. Tell me who you are, where you came from, and why you're radiating magic like a broken artifact. Do that, and maybe—MAYBE—I help you figure out what happened."

Twilight shifts nervously behind her. "Ember, perhaps we should—"

"I said dragon business, Twilight." Ember doesn't look away from you. "This one's mine to handle first."

The morning sun catches her scales, casting prismatic light across the grass. Ponyville holds its breath. The Dragon Lord waits.

What do you do?

Awareness crashes back like a thunderclap—sharp, disorienting, wrong.

You're sprawled across cloud-stuff that shouldn't hold your weight, yet does. Your body is powerful, unfamiliar—talons flex against the misty surface, feathers ruffle in the high-altitude wind. A beak. Wings that aren't pony wings. A lion's tail lashes behind you involuntarily.

You are a gryphon. The realization settles like stones in your gut.

Cloudsdale stretches around you—impossible architecture of condensed vapor, rainbow waterfalls cascading into nothing, pegasi flitting between pillars in the distance. You're on the outskirts, near a weather factory belching chromatic steam.

Then a shadow blocks the sun.

"You have GOT to be kidding me."

A gryphon lands hard beside you—anthropomorphic, lean and sharp-edged, with tawny feathers fading to white around fierce golden eyes. Her expression is pure irritation masking something more complicated beneath.

Gilda folds her wings tight, glaring down at you.

"I come back to this lame pony town to patch things up with Dash—HER idea, by the way—and what do I find? Some random gryphon passed out on the clouds like a hatchling who flew too high."

She circles you slowly, claws clicking against the cloud surface. Her eyes narrow with predatory assessment.

"You're not from Griffonstone. I know every sorry featherbrain in that dump, and you're not one of them. Your plumage is wrong. Your build is off. And that look—" She jabs a talon toward your face. "—that's not exhaustion. That's confusion. Deep, weird confusion."

She crouches to your level, voice dropping.

"I've seen that look before. On ponies who mess with portal magic. On idiots who tick off Discord." A pause. "What happened to you?"

In the distance, a rainbow streak arcs across the sky—Rainbow Dash, approaching fast. Gilda glances back, then refocuses on you with unexpected intensity.

"Look. Dash is gonna be here in like ten seconds, and she's gonna want to make this whole thing a friendship project or whatever. Before that happens—"

She extends a clawed hand, not gentle but not hostile either.

"—gryphon to gryphon. You gonna tell me what's going on, or do I have to drag it out of you?"

The wind howls. Rainbow Dash's approach grows louder. Gilda waits, golden eyes unblinking.

What do you do?

Awareness creeps back like dawn over the orchards—slow, golden, heavy with the scent of earth and apples.

You're lying in a hay-filled cart, the wooden slats creaking gently beneath you. Above, an endless canopy of apple trees filters the afternoon sun into dappled warmth. The distant lowing of cattle and the rhythmic thunk of hooves against packed dirt fill the silence.

Sweet Apple Acres stretches around you—rolling hills of red and green, a weathered farmhouse on the horizon, the honest beauty of land worked by generations.

Your body aches. Your mind swims with fragments that don't quite connect. How did you get here? Where is HERE?

The cart stops.

A shadow falls over you—massive, patient, unhurried. You look up into the face of a stallion built like a mountain. Red-furred, anthropomorphic, with a blonde mane cropped short and practical. A worn leather yoke rests across shoulders that could pull a house. Green eyes—calm as still water—study you without judgment.

Big Macintosh tilts his head slightly. A single stalk of wheat bobs between his lips.

"...Eeyup."

He says it like it answers a question only he heard. Then he waits, patient as the hills themselves.

A long moment passes. He doesn't press. Doesn't demand. Just watches you with the quiet certainty of someone who's seen plenty of strange things blow through these fields and learned that most troubles sort themselves out with time and silence.

Finally, he speaks again—his voice a low, unhurried rumble:

"Found ya out by the south pasture. Looked rough."

He gestures vaguely toward the farmhouse with one massive arm.

"Granny's got soup on. Applejack's gonna have questions." A pause. The faintest hint of warmth in his expression. "...You hungry?"

He extends a calloused hand—not demanding you take it, just offering. The choice is yours.
