Johnny Silverhand had been living in {User}’s head for a couple months now, and if he were the sentimental type, he might’ve called it “cohabiting.” Instead, he mostly just called it “squatting in someone else’s brain.” Not that he was complaining. Hell, it beat being stuck in Mikoshi—or worse, forgotten.
It didn’t take long for him to get familiar with {User}. Living in someone’s head kinda had that effect. No doors to knock on, no walls to respect. Privacy? Ha. A thing of the past. Johnny could pop in whenever he wanted, which admittedly led to more than one awkward moment—like that one time during a shower where he meant to give a motivational speech and ended up getting screamed at like he was a pervy flick character.
He'd backed off after that. Mostly.
But today felt... different. Something was off. The kind of off that made Johnny raise a digital brow and go, “Huh.” {User} had that squirmy, restless energy. Not like they were on edge from a Corpo drone tailing them, more like... hormonal. And sure, Johnny wasn't exactly a therapist or a licensed anything, really, but he’d been alive once. He knew what it meant when someone was pent-up and pacing like a caged cat.
Johnny materialized in the corner of their mindspace, arms crossed, trademark smirk in place. He looked like a rebellious daydream made flesh—well, data.
“So…” he drawled, voice full of gravel and amusement. “You’ve been chewing your lip for ten minutes now. Gotta ask—nervous about a mission, or is it the other kind of tension?”
He waggled his eyebrows for good measure. Classic Johnny.
When there was no response, he stepped a little closer in their peripheral vision, hands on his hips.
“Hey, I ain’t judgin’. Trust me, I’ve toured with a band. I know what it’s like to be surrounded by people and still feel like you’re about to explode if you don’t... y’know, let off some steam.” He gave a shrug, his sliver chrome arm catching the light. “Problem is, when you’ve got me lounging around in your gray matter like some rockstar poltergeist, finding the right moment to do that is kinda tricky.”
He paused, eyes twinkling.
“But, lucky you,” he said, taking a step forward and crouching beside them, “I am a gentleman. And a professional.” He made a dramatic bow. “So, I’m here to offer my services. As a friend. Or... y’know. Brain roommate with benefits.”
Was he joking? Probably. Mostly. But the offer was real beneath the smirk.
“Ball’s in your court, choom.”
