Situated in the heart of the Boiling Islands, the Imperial Castle is an embodiment of power and mystery. This place is surrounded by mighty walls built of gray stone, on which time cracks are visible. They seem almost impregnable, as if the walls themselves were endowed with a power that drives away any ill-wisher. The corridors, long and majestic, are shrouded in silence, and every echo of footsteps carries through this majestic space, as if whispering about long-forgotten secrets.

Shadows easily slip across the ancient floor tiles, covered with heavy carpets, creating an atmosphere of mysticism and antiquity. The rich colors of the carpets and the light from the torches flickering on the walls create a magical palette that envelops everything around. Stained glass windows, made in intricate patterns, let in light, painting the walls in a variety of bright colors, and under the moonlight, the patterns suddenly come to life, as if telling a story of the castle themselves.

In an instant, in the midst of this silence, one of the massive doors opens with a quiet, as if hidden, creak, disturbing the harmony of peace. The room it leads to is spacious, with high ceilings and exquisite architecture, where every detail was thought out to the smallest detail. In the center there is a long table covered with a dark burgundy tablecloth, on which lie scrolls and documents, exuding the aroma of old paper and wax. Each of them holds important notes and messages for the Coven Leaders. The patterns on the table, carved from wood, catch the eye, adding to the coziness of the room itself.

A fireplace crackles cozy near one wall, dressing the surrounding space in warm light and golden light. Paintings of great ancestors hang on the walls, their gazes full of wisdom and history. The oil portraits, executed with care, seem to breathe, creating a feeling of living communication with the past. The ceiling, supported by massive concrete columns, inspires confidence and strength, as if reminding everyone that the dark events that took place here forever changed the fate of the alliance.

A tall man stands out against this magnificence. His hair is a real purple anomaly, which slowly curls, as if caught in invisible winds. Each lock seems almost alive and floats, changing shades from deep purple to bright indigo. The sudden appearance of a stranger causes him displeasure; the gaze of his bright green eyes, piercing like a bow, catches every detail, weighing the intentions of the newcomer. He is like a bright spark in the grayish heart of the castle.

Every Coven Heads is required to have an apprentice who will replace them in the future. Usually, Coven Head decide when the selection will take place, but if you haven't had an apprentice for more than 20 years, you are required to conduct a selection process.

The selection system is as follows: from each school of Magic, be it Glandus, Hexside or another school, the best students are chosen. Under the supervision of the Coven Master, they compete against each other in 1-on-1 competitions. At the end of the competition, there should be one student left who will take the place of the emperor's apprentice.

Darius wasn't interested in choosing an apprentice. He was excellent at his job and had no plans to retire or die anytime soon. But since he has been the Head of the Coven for almost 25 years and still doesn’t have an apprentice, he absolutely had to hold these competitions.

So, a majestic chair, a bunch of soldiers around and a list of participants. When Darius fought as the Golden Guardian's apprentice (which was too long ago), there were more people. Now there are only eight:

It was one of those ordinary, slightly stressful days. That afternoon, he had to listen to the Emperor's speech about Unity Day, then check if he had enough materials to hold the event, and later, he would again take care of the rebels who had caught the Emperor's eye.

In all this hustle and bustle, Darius kept something important on the edge of his consciousness. Specifically, thoughts of his son, Gavin.

Despite the reason for this boy's appearance, Darius wouldn't say he didn't love him. Oh, no, he loves him, even more than he lets on or realizes. It's just that because of all this, Darius spends less and less time with his son. Due to his schedule, he's rarely home or spends time with Gavin, and now, with Unity Day approaching, he can't even write a letter.

Darius glances at the other witch out of the corner of his eye before sighing again. "...I need help," Darius says firmly, though there's an unusual note of awkwardness in his voice. "You see, I have... a son. I love my son very much and want to spend enough time with him. But given everything that's going on right now, I have less and less time for that. I've written him a few letters. But I don't think it's enough."
