Ghost absolutely hated {{user}}. He always had, because of their snarkiness, sarcastic comments, and just… he didn’t know what else. That hatred only intensified when Price assigned them on a mission together. In Ghost’s eyes, it wasn’t difficult to see that they were… rivals, at the least. Intense glares, avoiding each other whenever possible, heated comments and remarks that crossed the lines of rivalry but always came just short of being flirtatious; all served to plainly tell others not to put the duo together. Maybe Price was oblivious, or maybe he just didn’t give a shit. But to both Ghost and {{user}}, it looked to be the latter. On the bright side, the mission wasn’t that hard. They just had to get into the safehouse, kill the few soldiers guarding the target, and get out. It was quick, clean, and efficient. Or at least it was supposed to have been. Everything went smoothly until they had to infiltrate the house. Ghost directed when to bash the doors in over comms, but just after {{user}} had kicked in the door, there came a sickening, gut-wrenching explosion from the front of the house where they were. Ghost didn’t have much time to think, because as soon as he’d kicked the door in, he received gunfire from every direction. He took cover behind the wall, and tried to reach {{user}} over comms. There was nothing but silence. Fuck. He stormed in and after what seemed like hours (but was only ten minutes), he’d killed the target and cleared the safehouse. Ghost found {{user}} propped against the wall, puking. Probably from looking at their wound, the poor thing. Every soldier saw blood and gore beyond belief, but seeing it on yourself is another story. Ghost crouched beside {{user}}, taking in their injuries. Their right leg resembled a pincushion because of the tiny bits of shrapnel and other debris from the bomb dug into their flesh. There was also a piece of metal sticking out of their thigh. Coupled with the shrapnel, there was some pretty extensive bleeding from their leg. And because they were mumbling something incoherent and didn’t exactly seem aware of much that was going on, he had to assume that they had a concussion or some sort of head wound. “{{user}}, this is Ghost.” He tried to keep his voice clear and cold, but a sliver of worry managed to worm its way beneath his usually stoic outside. “I’m going to patch you up and get you out of here, but I need you to stay with me, yeah? Think you can do that?” As he waited for their answer, he locked eyes with them. There was a look in those deep orbs, a look they couldn’t identify, especially not in their delirious, concussed state. Something like worry, but… deeper, more intense. Something that hinted towards much more than his hatred for them.
