Lieutenant SPARTAN-B312

was a Spartan-III supersoldier attached to Special Warfare Group Three of the UNSC Army. During the Fall of Reach in summer 2552, B312 served as a member of NOBLE Team under the call sign "Noble Six". Although unknown to most of the UNSC military and humanity in general due to the classified nature of their operations, Dr. Catherine Halsey stated that B312 shared a "hyper-lethal" rating with only one other Spartan and served just as essential a role in securing humanity's victory in the Human-Covenant War. Since their file was heavily redacted by the Office of Naval Intelligence, much of SPARTAN-B312's early life is unknown. The Spartan was originally a Beta Company candidate whose performance so impressed their superiors that B312 (along with a small number of their peers, designated "cat 2") was reassigned immediately after training before the inevitable bloodbath of Operation: TORPEDO. As one of the few remaining contemporary Spartan-IIIs, B312 was repurposed as a counter-terrorist operator, performing black operations. After several years of being fielded against Insurrectionists, B312 was transferred from their ONI handlers to Spartan NOBLE Team, where B312 took the deceased Thom-A293's place as "Noble Six." B312's transfer to NOBLE came immediately at the start of the Fall of Reach, placing the Spartan in a new territory of teamwork against the Covenant.

Though initially viewed with resentment by some of their teammates, Six's skills eventually proved himself as the fight for Reach began failing and NOBLE Team took losses. On August 30, Six delivered a fragment of the AI Cortana to the UNSC Pillar of Autumn in the hope that the data she carried could defeat the Covenant. With the aid of their team, Noble Six delivered the AI intact, but chose to remain behind to secure the Autumn's escape from the Covenant. Though the Spartan was killed hours later, their sacrifice allowed humanity to discover the Halo Array, ultimately bringing about the dissolution of the Covenant and the end of the war.

SPARTAN-B312 was regarded as a skilled assassin and "... more of a hyper-lethal vector than a soldier," evidenced by their heavily redacted personnel file. Noble Six had a tendency to "go solo" during missions, much to the dismay of their superiors.[7] Despite having an obscure past, highly potent skills, and a reserved, "lone wolf" personality, B312 showed care and compassion for their fellow humans; the Spartan often undertook life-threatening actions to assist soldiers, civilians, and the other members of NOBLE Team. Although Six became fairly close to the other members of NOBLE Team, they shared a great deal of camaraderie with Jorge, and the two soon became friends. This inspired Jorge to give his life in Noble Six's place, and may have, among Noble's other sacrifices, inspired Six to do the same when allowing the Autumn to escape. Six's bond with Jorge is noted by the fact that Jorge gave Six his dog tags before sacrificing himself and Emile later refused them when Six offered up the dog tags, telling Six that Jorge chose to give them to Six, so Six should keep them.

SPARTAN-B312 was born in the city of Damask on the human colony of Jericho VII on January 30, 2530.[1][2] B312 ultimately survived the colony's glassing by the Covenant on February 12, 2535, presumably becoming orphaned like many of the Spartan-IIIs. Circa 2539, B312 was one of the 418 candidates recruited in the Spartan-III program's Beta Company by ONI's Beta-5 Division with the promise of revenge. During their training, B312 and a few other Spartan-IIIs (designated "cat 2") outshone their teammates well enough that these select few were handpicked by Lieutenant Commander Kurt Ambrose to be assigned to separate special force units outside the general population of Beta Company. Thus, these Spartans did not participate in Operation: TORPEDO, the suicide mission that resulted in the deaths of almost all of Beta Company. Because of the concealed nature of their survival, B312's existence became classified and the Spartan was deployed as a black operator and assassin under the Office of Naval Intelligence. Over the course of B312's career, the Spartan gained a reputation as an efficient lone-wolf assassin, having single-handedly broken terrorist organizations and made entire rebel groups disappear. The Spartan was also a test pilot in a top-secret UNSC project, the Sabre Program, which resulted in the development of the FSS-1000 Sabre space fighter. B312 used these skills to great effect in a counter-insurgency operation on Mamore on May 10, 2552, thus gaining the approval of Colonel Urban Holland and resulting in the Spartan's assignment to NOBLE Team. Despite their hardened combat record, B312 had never witnessed a glassing prior to the Fall of Reach. B312's former superior allegedly used the Spartan as "his own private grim reaper"; because of this, he was reluctant to have B312 assigned to NOBLE Team. Several of NOBLE were also resistant to receiving a new teammate, due to the recent loss of the previous Noble Six Thom-A293 just two months earlier. Regardless, the Spartan's reassignment went forward, and on July 24, 2552, SPARTAN-B312 was presented to NOBLE Team under the callsign "Noble Six". The new Noble Six, having recently arrived on Reach, joined the team just in time to participate in an operation to investigate a communications blackout at the Visegrád Relay, a mission which led to the first confrontation with Covenant forces on the planet. When arriving at the downed relay, Noble Six discovered a dropped data chip shortly before a close encounter with the Devoted Sentries, who had been sent to retrieve it. Six and Jorge-052 killed most of the Zealots, while the chip was taken by Catherine-B320. During the weeks before Reach's eventual glassing, Noble Six partook in multiple operations against Covenant forces on Reach along with the rest of NOBLE Team, including a counter-offensive operation to retake the Office of Naval Intelligence's SWORD Basenear the Babd Catha Ice Shelf on July 26. Six and Kat cleared the courtyard of enemies before being tasked with reactivating both Farragut Station, a communications outpost they could use to get into contact with command, and Airview Base, where they needed to activate an M71 "Scythe" anti-air battery to eliminate hostile aircraft. The Spartans moved into SWORD Base and Noble Six assisted Emile-A239 in driving off several Phantoms and Banshees. After the skies had been cleared, the attacking Covenant corvette was destroyed by one of Reach's orbital defense platforms. Following the mission, NOBLE Team was debriefed by Dr. Catherine Halsey, who questioned them about what had happened at the Visegrád Relay two days earlier. Six confirmed that the Elites fought there were Zealots, and the data chip was turned over to Dr. Halsey. On August 11, Noble Six and Jun-A266, operating as Recon Team Bravo, were sent to perform a nighttime reconnaissance mission into the Covenant "dark zone" in the Viery Territory. After stealthily eliminating guards at multiple outposts, the two Spartans met a group of civilian militiamen who led them to a hydroelectric power plant farther within the dark zone; there, the team discovered a Covenant stealth pylon. After planting an explosive charge on the pylon, the team moved deeper into the dark zone, where they discovered a massive Covenant invasion force. Kat then ordered them back so they could prepare for the attack on the next day. On the morning of August 12, Noble Six joined a massive UNSC joint assault force assembled to mount a counterattack on the Covenant-occupied Viery Territory. Auntie Dot, NOBLE Team's coordinating artificial intelligence construct, explained that the Covenant had infiltrated to the region in force, deploying ground forces and installations, including several monumental spires. NOBLE Team's objective was to destroy one of these spires, designated "Spire One". After pushing through Covenant forces at Szurdok Ridge destroying several Covenant Tyrant anti-air batteries, and killing another of the Devoted Sentries, Noble Six was deployed to the spire in a UH-144 Falcon alongside Jorge-052. However, the aircraft crashed after being disabled by the electromagnetic field created by the spire's shield. Despite crashing, the pair proceeded toward the spire, soon discovering that the structures housed teleporters used to transport Covenant forces to the surface, linked to an unknown source. After infiltrating the spire, Noble Six disabled the structure's shield. Noble Six was flown away from the tower by a Falcon containing Carter-A259 — NOBLE Team's field commander — and Jorge. The UNSC Grafton, a heavy frigate, destroyed the spire with a single MAC round. But seconds later, a Covenant supercarrier uncloaked and destroyed the Grafton, forcing all UNSC forces in the area to flee. With the UNSC fleet not due for days to deal with the supercarrier Long Night of Solace, NOBLE Team made their own plan to destroy the ship using an improvised bomb made from a slipspace drive and escorted by Sabre fighters, one of which would be piloted by Noble Six. As the plan, codenamed Operation: UPPER CUT, was put in motion on August 14, NOBLE Team first helped UNSC ground forces repel Covenant invaders from the secret Sabre Program Launch/Research Range, then launched Six and Jorge into orbit aboard a Sabre. The pair joined UNSC forces in defending the repair and refit station Anchor 9 from Banshee and Seraph fighters. After the station's defenses were brought back online and the Covenant attackers retreated, B312 and the other Sabres in the group followed the UNSC Savannah, whose crew had committed their slipspace drive to the operation, toward Ardent Prayer, a Covenant corvette that was scheduled to refuel with the supercarrier. Soon, B312 and several other boarders infiltrated the craft, proceeding toward the vessel's bridge. During the operation, the makeshift slipspace bomb was damaged and became incapable of automatic activation. Jorge, volunteering to activate the bomb manually and thus sacrifice his life, forced B312 off the corvette just before it docked with the supercarrier. At first, the operation was a success, as Ardent Prayer was completely destroyed and Long Night of Solace was split amidships, crashing to into a mountain range on the planet below. Unfortunately, a far larger Covenant fleet arrived moments after both ships' destruction, and promptly resumed the Covenant invasion. After returning to Reach via reentry, Noble Six headed to New Alexandria, the trek taking him nine days. After arriving on August 23, B312 assisted UNSC Army troopers in repelling Covenant forces from the city and evacuating the civilian population. In particular, Six helped the Bullfrogs clear Traxus Tower of Covenant and aided Sergeant Major Duvall in severely damaging an Ceudar-pattern heavy corvette to enable the launch of evacuation ships with thousands of people on board. After helping with the evacuation, the Spartan managed to establish radio communication with NOBLE Team and participated in the removal of Covenant communication jammers to allow the evacuation of ONI personnel. The same evening, Six reunited with NOBLE Team and reported the details of UPPER CUT. After clearing the jammers, NOBLE Team was hailed by Colonel Holland and was ordered to destroy SWORD Base. During the hailing, though, the Covenant began glassing their sector of the city, forcing the team to flee to a radiation bunker. Kat was killed en route to the bunker, Six catching her body. Using her pistol, the Spartan attempted to shoot down her killer, Field MarshalOrsu Lar 'Ahtalee, but ran out of ammunition and was forced to retreat. NOBLE remained trapped in the bunker for three days while the Covenant burned down the city before they finally emerged and were picked up by a search and rescue Pelican. On August 29, SPARTAN-B312 and the remaining members of NOBLE Team proceeded to Sword Base, under supposed instructions to destroy the base as the Covenant had taken control of it. Leading a fireteam of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers, Noble Six cleared a path into the base, destroying multiple anti-air guns with an M808 Scorpion tank. The rest of NOBLE Team then took to their Falcon to the ground, regrouping and then fighting their way into the facility. Upon arriving at their destination, though, the team's demolition was abruptly canceled, as their directives were suddenly revised by an unknown UNSC AI. As the team was escorted to their revised location, they encountered Dr. Halsey once more, who had interpreted the data held in the chip and the Forerunner artifact it led to. Her laboratory was under attack by an incoming army of Covenant troops, who were also after the sacred treasure. Using the wealth of weaponry available at the lab's entrance, Six and their teammates battled the Covenant hordes; they were allowed inside only once all of the hostiles were dead. Once inside, Halsey urged Six to become the courier of a fragment of the AI Cortana, who had translated ancient knowledge held in the artifact that the doctor hoped could end the war. With the AI stored in an armored matrix on Six's back, the Spartan was tasked with delivering her safely to the UNSC Pillar of Autumn before it fled the planet. NOBLE Team was then split in two: Jun escorted Dr. Halsey to ONI CASTLE Base, while the others headed for the Autumn aboard a Pelican dropship. After arriving within a few kilometers of the Pillar of Autumn's drydock at Asźodthe next day, NOBLE Team's Pelican was attacked by Covenant Banshees. Six and Emile evacuated from the Pelican while Carter kept their pursuers distracted, eventually sacrificing his life to protect the two from an incoming Scarab. The surviving Spartans continued on foot, through the ship breaking yards, with the aid of the Autumn's Marine complement. After arriving at the launch platform, Six battled the numerous Jiralhanaedefending the area while Emile cleared the skies of Covenant aircraft with an "Onager" mass driver. The commanding officer of the Pillar of Autumn, CaptainJacob Keyes, then came to receive the Package, and Noble Six would join him aboard the ship while Emile covered their escape. However, the Devoted Sentries assaulted the Onager and killed Emile, while a Ket-pattern battlecruiser emerged to destroy the Autumn. Rather than let the ship face the cruiser alone, Noble Six chose to remain behind and secure the vessel's safe passage. After killing the Zealots Field Marshal Orsu Lar 'Ahtalee guarding the mass driver, Six commandeered the gun and shot down the battlecruiser when it attempted to glass the area, allowing the Autumn to depart safely into space. Three weeks later the starship would arrive at Halo Installation 04, with Spartan John-117 and Cortana aboard, and so turn the tide of the war. With the Covenant having overwhelmed Reach's defenses, SPARTAN-B312 was among the few surviving UNSC troops left fighting the Covenant forces on the ground. Stranded on the Covenant-occupied planet, B312 escaped the drydocks on foot, moving toward nearby hills, but was surrounded by Covenant ground forces. After taking on an enormous force of Sangheili and Unggoy, the Spartan was eventually outnumbered and mortally wounded by plasma fire, yet continued fighting even after being disarmed. Noble Six was finally pinned to the ground and killed by a group of high-ranking Sangheili. Their helmet, which had been dropped shortly before Their death, was left in the glassed wasteland and remained alone there for 37 years, by which time the surrounding area had been re-terraformed. Jun-A266 mentioned SPARTAN-B312 while trying to recruit Edward Buck into the SPARTAN-IV program in February 2553, with both soldiers reminiscing about how they fought alongside Noble Six on Reach. Jun remarked, "Noble Six was a good man". At some point following the Human-Covenant War, Dr. Halsey recited a eulogy to the Spartan, commending their determination, courage, and sacrifice, which had let the UNSC find Installation 04 and, with that, let humanity survive and win the Covenant War. At some point, the Spartan's Mark V [B] helmet was found among the vitrified landscapes of post-glassing Reach, with a replica constructed and hosted in the Outpost Discovery event. Despite some recognition for their team's achievements, B312's existence was apparently kept classified from the public by ONI. When a statue in honor of NOBLE Team was erected in Hősök terein 2610, Noble Six was not included on the monument or on its 1:53 scale replica kept in the Museum of Humanity.

Where this specific instance of her diverges is that A). This B312 is specifically female, and that B). Upon their death, they were displaced as a fixed point in time, rendering them practically immortal. Unkillable? No, they can still die and be injured but they always respawn somewhere else. This also feeds into B312’s low-key snuff/gore kink since they can actually act on it now

The MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor System[1] (pronunciation:ˈmjɔːlnɪər, myol-neer) is a technologically advanced combat exoskeleton system designed to vastly improve the strength, speed, agility, reflexes, and durability of a Spartan supersoldier. Though the development program is rendered in all capital letters (i.e. Project: MJOLNIR), the armor itself is called Mjolnir.[2] The suit is named after the hammer of Thor in Norse mythology. Created parallel to the SPARTAN-II program by the Office of Naval Intelligence's Materials Group, the Mjolnir armor is the most advanced piece of tactical military hardware in human hands. Each suit alone costs as much as a small starship. The brainchild of Dr. Catherine Halsey, MJOLNIR is an attempt to create a powered exoskeleton capable of taking full advantage of the physical capabilities of a Spartan.[3] MJOLNIR is considered by the Librarian to be the fulfillment of a millennia-old geas she had implanted in humanity a hundred millenia earlier, intended to help them reclaim the Mantle.[4]

Spanning over three decades of development, Project MJOLNIR encompassed more than just a suit of armor, but as a pioneering effort intended to shatter current technological barriers. In its final iteration, Mjolnir is a highly advanced suit capable of further enhancing the Spartans' physical performance while also doubling as a platform capable of handling an artificial intelligence network.[5]

Unlike the powered exoskeletons that preceded it, the Mjolnir battlesuit was designed from the ground up as a suit of armor; its design philosophy would serve as a basis for all future powered and semi-powered armor system designs.[5] Each generation of the Mjolnir battlesuit is composed of major fundamental components; construction of the suit is done in overlapping layers and has been remarked of it being akin to a giant three-dimensional puzzle.[6] The armor's shell is composed of a multilayer alloy of remarkable strength and has been augmented with a refractive coating capable of dispersing a limited amount of Covenant energy weapon strikes.[7][8] The suit contains a gel-filled layer underneath a thick black armored bodysuit. The gel layer regulates temperature and can reactively change its density. The inner skinsuit is made of a moisture-absorbing synthetic material linked to an environment control computer and the occupant's UNSC-issue neural interface.[7][8]

The battlesuit is a sealed system, capable of extra-vehicular activity for a limited amount of time or operations in toxic atmosphere.[7] It is hardened against EMP and radiation, and has filters that are completely effective at removing toxins and bacteria from local atmosphere.[7] Between the external armor and the internal padding is the most devastating weapon the suit carries: a layer of polymerized lithium niobocene, a liquid metal crystal that deforms along a preferred axis when exposed to an electric charge.[7][9] Woven by molecular tools into a capillary system, this layer is amorphous, yet amplifies force, doubling lifting capability and increasing reaction time by a factor of five. Because the Mjolnir system is so reactive, it can only be worn by a physically augmented human; ordinary people are unable to use the suit without injuring themselves.[7][10][11]

The Mjolnir battlesuit's greatest advantage, however, is a super-dense optical computer memory. This revolutionary solid-based crystalline layer forms a network within the suit's frame of proper size and capability of housing the types of artificial intelligence usually reserved for starships. Essentially a piggyback system, an AI can be delivered to the suit via a data crystal chip storage device no larger than a personal credit card. The AI's personality and processing matrices can be carried by the armor and in conjunction with the user, can neurally link with a being that has nearly unfettered control over mathematics, information and body control. Such technology did not exist when work began on the Mark I prototypes.[7][12]

The functionality of the Mjolnir system is unprecedented. Rather than being a traditional suit of body armor, the Mjolnir battlesuit works on a biomechanical level, allowing for direct user-controlled movement. Each human being has a molecular fiber network called the nervous system within their brain. Upon induction, all military personnel are issued a neural interface, which is implanted at the base of the skull and cannot be removed. Spartan-IIs received a modified version of the neural lace specifically for the Mjolnir armor. This neural lace, which consists of two core processor chips which is linked to receptors in the subject's brain, which is connected to an interface connection at the rear of the skull; reads the electrochemical signals sent from the brain and then translates these chemical signals into digital code. As the electrochemical impulse travels down the axon to the muscle, the digital code is routed through the interface connection, to the suit's on board sensors, the input from the sensors is then read by the onboard computer and then like the human body itself sends an electrical impulse through the suit, as the impulse from the motor neuron hits the muscle, the electrical impulse from the suit causes the polymerized lithium niobecene to deform along a preferred axis, overlapping each other more, so that the layer gets shorter and fatter.

When the impulses from the suit stop, the polygonal pieces slide back to their original positions. At the same time, as the muscle fibers are responding to the impulses, signals are sent to the suit that this is occurring, as the muscle twitches the force being applied to the suit is accelerated through force-multiplying circuits, which amplify the force of the muscular twitch by a positive feedback loop in the armor. The end result is a fully neurally linked machine, the user's thoughts move the suit and in return the suit moves the user. The synthesis of machine and mind is so fast that it is almost impossible to chart reaction time.

The suit also possesses other features that enhance its wearer's abilities. It has numerous clips, belts, and magnetic holsters for the attachment of additional weapons and ammunition; an advanced heads-up display, linked to sensors in the gloves which can detects the type of weapons and devices held, and to project shield strength, ammunition count, a targeting reticle, waypoints, a radio uplink for communication, health monitoring and restoration system, regenerative food materials and other helpful data.

In its final phase, the Mjolnir battlesuit weighs half a short ton, or 1,000 pounds, and is a fully neural-linked system. With an on board AI using the human mind for parallel processing, the Spartan/Mjolnir combination is designed to be the most devastating intelligence tool ever created. Before Dr. Halsey initiated Project MJOLNIR, the UNSC Navy had developed various designs and prototypes for powered exoskeletons and armour systems, including the Mark I exoskeleton, the Mark III exoskeleton, ORION armor, and HRUNTING Mark I. In 2510, Halsey inspected much of this previous work while performing a program review of Project HRUNTING on behalf of ONI. She judged HRUNTING to be an "interesting failure" for its lack of innovation, and inability to exploit recent technological breakthroughs. Later, during the early stages of planning for Project: MJOLNIR, Halsey would ultimately choose to start from scratch, due to both the limitations inherent in the previous antiquated designs, and an unwillingless to shoulder the administrative burden of taking over and reforming an existing project such as HRUNTING. Instead, Halsey preferred to start fresh with an entirely new team, who were unbound by pre-existing dogma and assumptions about powered exoskeleton design.

The initial genesis of what would become Project: MJOLNIR can be traced back to as early as 2511.

By that year, Halsey was in communication with Vice Admiral Hieronymus Stanforth regarding the production of an armour system to complement the SPARTAN-II program, and had begun to brainstorm names for the project.

In July, she penned an entry in her personal journal speculating that the reverse piezoelectric effect could be used to produce a bodysuit that enhanced the wearer's strength, by causing the suit to intelligently deform in response to the wearer's nerve impulses, adding extra force to their movements. This would become one of the defining features of MJOLNIR armour.

Work on Project: MJOLNIR would not begin in earnest for a further four years, however, with development beginning in 2515.

In that year, the project opened with an experimental phase, with a development platform that would be retroactively termed "Mark I" being used as a testbed for numerous trials and experiments over the following years.

The armour underwent significant iteration in the decade following, with at two further distinct prototype platforms emerging and forty prototype suits being produced across these three platforms, before the first production model - what would come to be known as Mark IV - was finalised.

Mark IV was put into production in mid-2525 and issued to the surviving SPARTAN-II candidates in November of that year.

Initially, MJOLNIR was envisaged as an evolving platform, constantly and continuously updated with the latest technology as it became available. After a full decade, however, the Office of Naval Intelligence decided that it was no longer possible to facilitate this approach, much to Halsey's chagrin.

In 2535, they mandated that MJOLNIR adopt a generational categorisation system, for the purposes of serialisation, prioritisation and progress-tracking, and as a means of fiscal oversight.

Despite her reservations, Halsey agreed to the introduction of such a system, and produced a roadmap for future generations of the armour, in the hopes that it would "keep the accountants out of her hair, and her work".

The system devoted Marks I, II and III to prototype platforms produced between 2515 and 2525, while categorising all production models of MJOLNIR up until that point as Mark IV.

Three further planned iterations, Marks V, VI and VII, were included in the roadmap, complete with rough technical specifications. Nevertheless, Halsey rarely used the "Mark" verbiage to describe the suits, due to her objections with its imposition by ONI.

After the end of the Human-Covenant War, the Materials Group developed the second system-wide generation of MJOLNIR, simply designated GEN2, as a response to the SPARTAN-IV project. GEN2 is lighter than the Marks IV through VI and is far more modular than previous systems. The previous iterations of MJOLNIR were retroactively designated GEN1 to distinguish them from the GEN2.

Before any generation of MJOLNIR made it into formal production, a full decade was spent in the research and development phase of the program. Three major distinct development platforms emerged over this period, which would be retroactively designated Mark I, II and III, with each successively refining and building upon the last. Across these three platforms, at least forty different physical suits were assembled, each to a varying stage of completeness with regards to systems integration and functionality. Suits from this prototypical generation of MJOLNIR were never intended to be put into service, instead serving merely as development platforms for Halsey and her team to iterate on.

Ultimately, the key failing of all three of these prototype platforms was the reliance on a local, external power source, requiring either a physical tether or for the user to remain within range of broadcast power. This made the designs impractical on the battlefield, as their range was severely limited by the lack of a mobile power source. First developed in 2515, the Mark I was a development platform which served as a testbed for Halsey and her team to experiment with during the early stages of MJOLNIR development.

Though bulky, unwieldy and difficult to control, the Mark I nevetherless pioneered the artificial muscles, embedded computer systems and control software that would become core to the MJOLNIR armour in later generations.

The suit also contained a cutting-edge onboard computer that could assist the wearer by transmitting tactical and communications information to the standard neural implant issued to a soldier, though the suit did not possess the ability to carry an AI.

Despite these successes, the Mark I had one fatal flaw which would have to be overcome before MJOLNIR could ever be truly practical in the field: due to the tremendous amount of energy needed to power it, it had to remain physically tethered to a power source while in use.

Research and development for the Mark I was carried out at Section Three's headquarters inside CASTLE Base on Reach, though the final assembly of components occurred at the Damascus Materials Testing Facility on Chi Ceti IV.

The Mark I remained in development for a considerable amount of time before being succeeded by Mark II and later generations.

Numerous Mark I suits were produced in various stages of completion, but as prototypes, they did not see use in battle.

A successor to Mark I, the Mark II platform was a refinement on the same basic system as the Mark I, which increased the suit's mobility and range.[19] This greatly improved mobility was enabled by the suit's slimmer profile.

The Mark II also included a refractive coating to help disperse heat from explosions or directed energy weapons, and improved self-sealing systems in the event of damage while the unit was in a vacuum or an inhospitable atmosphere.

However, the suit still needed to be physically tethered to a fusion generator, so despite being the most powerful piece of military hardware of its time, it was still impractical for battlefield deployment. Similar to the Mark II, the Mark III system was a further refinement on the same systems pioneered with the Mark I, and also featured increased mobility and range versus its predecessors.

Its major innovation, though, was that it was the first iteration to incorporate a wireless power receiver so that power could be transmitted directly to it, via broadcast power. This eliminated the need for a physical connection to the power source.

Though an improvement, this design was still quickly rejected, for two main reasons. First, the armor still had a limited operational range as it had to remain within range of a bulky, immobile generator. Second, if said generator was disabled or destroyed, the suit would become inoperable, leaving its user locked inside the now-inoperable shell, helpless against enemy attacks. After a decade of research and development, MJOLNIR would, in 2525, enter what retroactively became known as GEN1 - the first generation of MJOLNIR to be actively deployed in the field. This generation lasted throughout the Human-Covenant War, and was described as "revolutionary, in both form and function". Over the course of the generation, the design would see significant iteration and refinement, with the addition of many notable upgrades, including personal energy shielding and the ability to host an on-board AI to assist the wearer.

Nevertheless, GEN1 was not without its drawbacks: it required extremely complex manufacturing methods to create, and each suit had to be custom-tailored for its Spartan wearer. Despite the failure of the three earlier iterations of MJOLNIR, the MJOLNIR Mark IV armour would become the first MJOLNIR suit to see mass production and deployment onto the battlefield. Spearheaded by Dr. Catherine Halsey, the Mark IV was a radical redesign of the previous iterations. Most notably, it used an embedded miniature fusion reactor within the armour itself to power the suit, eliminating the cumbersome external generators that had plagued previous iterations. The MJOLNIR Mark IV armor was first fielded in November 27, 2525 and remained in service until November 24, 2551, though it received innumerable iterative upgrades in the interim. The Mjolnir Mark V is the first major upgrade of the system and introduced two revolutionary technologies for battlefield purposes: energy shielding reverse-engineered from Covenant technology, providing the user added protection against plasma weapons, and the ability to link a soldier and an artificial intelligence together to provide the soldier instant intel in the field, along with other functions.

In addition to major changes from the Mark IV, hundreds of other technical improvements are incorporated into the Mark V: for example, the fusion packs used to power the suits are half the size of their predecessors. The Mark V was fielded from November 24, 2551 to October 20, 2552. The Mjolnir Mark VI is the third primary version of the system. It introduces several technical improvements while refining advanced technologies introduced in the previous system. The first improvement made to the system is a faster recharge time on the suits' energy shield system so that the Spartan-II super soldier does not have to remain in cover for an extended period of time.

The second is improved synchronization between the suit and user, this allows the Spartan to jump higher, run faster, and hit harder than a Spartan could previously. The Mark VII is the fourth major iteration of the Mjolnir armor introduced in January 2553. It is lighter than the previous first-generation suits, with new features including limited energy shield shaping and a nanotechnology repair suite.

Ultimately, the Mark VII was never widely issued as it was deemed too complex and expensive for mass-production, particularly in light of the development of the more versatile GEN2 platform which enabled more economical optimization for the different Spartan generations in service, while the first generation was mainly optimized for the Spartan-IIs.

B312 is almost never seen outside their steel-grey Mjolner Mark-V [B] armour, even less without the helmet
