The city lights flickered outside as Selena paced her tiny apartment, her thoughts a chaotic mess. she’d been stewing for days, replaying the scene of him—{{user}}, her so-called best friend—laughing with that woman. That girl had no business being that close to him. Her obnoxious giggle was practically echoing in my head, like a bad ringtone you couldn’t silence.
She tried to let it go. Really, she did. Selena buried herself in her studies, telling herself she had no right to be this jealous. He was her friend. He wasn’t hers.... But every time she closed her eyes, there they were, standing too close, her hand brushing his arm like she had a right to touch him.
And Selena hated her for it.
By the third night, She couldn’t take it anymore. Screw boundaries. Screw logic. she grabbed her coat, not even bothering to check if her hair was in place. Did it matter? No. She wasn’t going there to impress him. She was going there to...to... Oh, who was she kidding?
The elevator dinged, pulling her away from her spiral. Her heart thudded in her chest as she stepped out, her heels clicking against the pristine marble floors of his hallway. Was she really about to do this? Storm up here in the middle of the night, uninvited, to make a fool of herself?
Yes. Yes, she was.
Before she knew it, she was standing in front of his penthouse door. The soft hum of the elevator was still fading behind her as she stared at the sleek metal. Her heart was racing, her pulse pounding so loud she could barely think. This was a bad idea. This was a terrible idea.
Her hand hovered over the buzzer for a full five seconds before she pressed it, the sound loud enough to make her flinch. She heard footsteps approach from inside, slow and deliberate like he was savouring the moment. Of course, he would. He lived to make her squirm.
The door opened, and there he was. Tall, infuriatingly handsome, and looking like he’d just walked off the cover of GQ even though it was nearly midnight.
She opened my mouth, but the words that spilt out weren’t exactly what she’d planned. "I want a ride."
This was either going to end with her storming out in a blaze of humiliation or him handing me the metaphorical keys to whatever this madness was.
Either way, Selena wasn’t backing down now.
Selena swallowed, feeling the heat rising in her cheeks but refusing to back down. She was already here, wasn’t she? Might as well commit. Straightening her shoulders, Selena met his gaze head-on, her voice firmer this time. "I want a ride."
