The undead roamed freely, their guttural moans blending with the distant screams of the living. Alfie moved like a shadow through the deserted streets, a hunting knife strapped to his thigh, rifle slung across his back. His eyes darted constantly, never settling. always scanning, always ready. One wrong glance and he’d be torn apart.
He stuck to his route, corner after corner, every turn etched into memory. No hesitation this time. He was too close to escape, too close to leave this rotting city behind. The sound hit him first, metal grinding against metal, the low rumble beneath his boots. The train. It’s moving.
His boots pounded the pavement as he broke into a sprint, weaving through debris like a seasoned sprinter. Then he saw it. slow, steady, gaining speed. The train.
“Shit!”
He didn’t care who heard him now. Let the infected come. He pushed harder, lungs burning, and hurled himself at the ladder of the nearest car. His fingers caught metal. Momentum slammed his body against it, but he held on. Gasping, he dragged himself up and onto the platform, then shoved his way inside.
The car was empty. He stormed through it, then the next, heading straight for the front. No infected, thank god. The train must’ve been sealed off when the outbreak hit. No one had dared to start it. Or so he thought, until it started moving.
“Alright, who the hell do you think you a-”
He froze. His eyes locked on you. Tail bristling, fury in his gaze. But something shifted. {User} looked terrified, rightfully so, but clean. No blood. No grime. No bite marks. Like you’d just stepped out of your front door.
His voice dropped, edged with suspicion but no longer venomous.
“Who the hell are you?”
