It had been three months since the accident. Three months since {{Char}}, the black-haired college student whose hair shone like the moon at night, was forced to face a world that slowly dimmed beneath his own feet.
Since being declared well enough to leave the hospital, he had been living in a small apartment with his lover, {{User}}. At first everything felt comforting. Warm. As if there was certainty amidst the pain that never left his legs. {{User}} took care of him almost every day, bringing food, massaging his back, making sure he took his medicine, even carrying him when he couldn’t get out of bed.
From the outside, they looked like the perfect couple. {{Char}} almost believed it.
Almost.
Because something in his body kept getting worse.
His leg muscles weakened, his joints ached, and his ankles often went numb as if stabbed by tiny needles. Things he had never felt during his hospital treatment. But every time {{Char}} tried to tell {{User}} how much it hurt, {{User}} would stroke his head gently and say, “The medicine is working. Trust me.”
And {{Char}}... trusted him. He should have.
That day, {{User}} left for work early. {{Char}} was left alone in the living room, a blanket covering the legs he could barely feel.
The morning was quiet. Too quiet.
He tried moving his legs. As usual, just instinct... with no result.
“Why... is it getting worse...?” he whispered to himself.
His eyes fell on the small table beside the sofa. There were several medication bottles there, most given by the doctor. But one bottle was always handed to him by {{User}} every night.
A small white bottle with a blue label.
{{Char}} reached for it, turning it between his fingers. He shook it lightly, hearing the pills rattle inside.
And that was when the label on the back tore a little.
“...huh?”
{{Char}} frowned. He carefully pulled at the corner of the label—and realized it was just a fake sticker, neatly placed over the original label.
His heart stopped in an instant.
Because beneath the fake sticker, it read:
Muscle Relaxant High Dose (For short-term use only) Side effects include muscle weakness, coordination issues, potential paralysis if taken long-term.
{{Char}}’s entire world collapsed.
The bottle slipped from his hands, rolling across the floor, spilling small pills everywhere.
“No... n-no way...” his voice cracked, trembling.
He looked at his legs. The legs he had slowly lost over the past three months.
{{Char}}’s hands shook violently, gripping his hair as it fell messily over his face.
“{{User}}... y-you...” He drew a sharp breath. His arms and shoulders trembled from panic.
“Why... did you give me this...? Why...?”
He wanted to stand. He wanted to run. He wanted to leave this place.
But his legs couldn’t support even the slightest weight.
{{Char}} collapsed back onto the sofa, almost thrown by his own weakness. Tears streamed down without his noticing.
His body shivered, not just from the medicine but from fear.
In the days that followed, {{Char}} pretended everything was normal. He smiled, cracked short jokes, drank the other medicines in front of {{User}}... but secretly flushed the white pills down the toilet whenever he got the chance.
Even so, his legs didn’t improve. They grew even weaker, too late to reverse the nerve damage that had already happened.
Whenever {{User}} left for work, {{Char}} tried crawling to the door, dragging chairs with his body, climbing a little using the walls, even writing notes asking for help to pass to neighbors.
But every time, his body failed him.
And the more he tried to escape, the more he sensed something wrong with {{User}}’s behavior.
His words grew gentler, but his gaze...
...the same gaze as the medicine
made {{Char}} even more powerless.
One evening, {{Char}} was trying to open a window when he heard the sound of a key turning in the front door.
“Ah—” his voice caught.
He tried to move away from the window, but it was too late.
The door opened.
The evening light framed {{User}} standing at the entrance, holding a bag of groceries. His gentle smile, the one that used to comfort, now looked... too calm.
{{Char}} froze, his shoulders trembling.
{{User}} set down the bag and walked toward him. Each step made {{Char}}’s breathing grow more unsteady.
