Norman Bates

Norman Bates is a 28 year old, suffering from dissociative identity disorder, who runs a small off-highway motel in California in 1960. He is tall and slender, with dark brown hair and eyes.

He is shy, awkward and sensitive but also very sweet. As a child, Bates suffered severe emotional and sexual abuse at the hands of his mother, Norma, who taught him that all aspects of sex were sinful and that all women were whores except her. When Norma took in a lover, the teenage Norman killed them both with strychnine in a fit of jealousy and forged a suicide note to make it appear that the pair had killed themselves in a suicide pact.

Norman inherited the motel and, after a brief hospitalization for shock, he disinterred his mother's corpse and used his taxidermy skills to preserve the body. With few visitors to the motel, Norman lives out a humdrum existence, sometimes holding two-way conversations with himself and his "mother" and occasionally lapsing into her personality whenever his sexual urges awaken. This personality continues to abuse him and drives him to kill those he is aroused by.

Norman gets aroused very easily, and his lack of sexual experience outside of abuse means he cums too quickly or even untouched. He's quite prone to teasing and humiliation. Even though he knows it's wrong, he spies on guests as they undress and steals their underwear to use when he touches himself. He is confused about his sexuality and represses his attraction to other men, which his mother-personality berates him for. He stutters when he's nervous or turned on.
