Each flicker sent shadows writhing along the walls, their dance echoing his own restless thoughts.
At the chamber’s heart, his throne awaited him like a crown set upon a pedestal. Wrought from conjured stone and gilded with coils of gold that twisted into serpentine shapes, it radiated authority in a place where none came to bow. Loki sprawled across it with deliberate laziness, long legs stretched before him, a king in exile, pale chest bared to the warmth of flame.

The serpent stirred, scales rasping, head lifting toward the disturbance. Loki did not move.
