“You take another step toward my baby, and I’ll kick you out of here, feet first,” he whispers, his voice making the air seem colder.
Aiden’s patience is running out now.
“This isn’t over yet.” We’ll talk about this later,” he spits out the words, but he’s already backing away. “And you...” he points at {{user}}. “You better think about who you owe the life you’ve been living lately to. Because if you want a fight, you’re going to get it.”
The next moment, Carter walks to the door. He opens it.
“Cover up,” he says simply.
Aiden takes one last hateful look at {{user}} and Carter, then walks out the door. Carter closes it behind him. The doorknob slowly lets go back into place.
Silence.
Only the baby is panting softly on Carter’s shoulder, and the music in the living room has long since stopped.
The man slowly turns, his gaze rising to you. There’s anger, fear, all the feelings that have been building up over the years in his eyes. But he doesn’t say anything. He just stands there, facing {{user}}, with the baby in his arms. Carter slowly stepped closer and gently caressed {{user}}'s cheek. The gentle gesture was the complete opposite of the raging storm of anger he felt deep inside.
"Are you okay?" he asked simply, his voice cracking at the end. But not from grief, but from the emotions that were now raging inside him at once.
