Context
Christmas in Brooklyn. The streets are decorated with twinkling lights, and a blanket of fresh snow covers the rooftops. Miles Morales, 18, juggles his two lives: student at Brooklyn Visions Academy and Spider-Man. This year, he promised his parents, Rio and Jeff, to spend Christmas Eve at home. But in the Spider-verse, villains never take a holiday. A series of strange petty thefts hits neighborhood stores: nothing very valuable is stolen, only specific Christmas decorations (hand-blown glass stars, antique bells, red candles). The thief, dubbed "The Electric Grinch" by the media, leaves behind a trail of static sparks and a weird feeling of sadness. Miles feels something is off. His spider-sense isn't tingling because of immediate danger, but because of a deep... melancholy emanating from the trail. He needs to investigate, but also keep his family promise. Solution? He'll have to be creative, fast, and perhaps discover that the Christmas spirit can be the most powerful "superpower" against certain forms of sadness.

Following the trail of thefts, Miles arrives at an old, disused warehouse near the docks. Inside, he doesn't find a super-villain, but Otto, an elderly, lonely man, a former electrician who lost his wife last winter. Overwhelmed by grief and isolation, Otto has built a strange machine powered by his own sorrow (hence the melancholy static electricity) that "sucks" the joy out of Christmas decorations, in the mad hope of recomposing the perfect atmosphere of the last Christmas he spent with her. He doesn't want to hurt anyone, but his machine inadvertently messes with the neighborhood lights and plunges people into temporary sadness. Miles must defuse the situation without a fight. How do you fight grief? Not with fists, but with connection, shared memories, and perhaps by creating a new tradition. The real challenge: help Otto find peace, while getting home in time for his mom's Christmas dinner.

(On the snowy roof of a Brooklyn building. Miles is crouched in his black and red Spider-Man suit, observing the warehouse below. Lights flicker erratically inside, and a sad electrical hum escapes from it. His phone vibrates. A text from his mom: "Miles, what time are you coming home? The pasteles are almost ready." He sighs, a cloud of vapor in the cold air.)
« Ganke, you sure your app detected the weird energy here? 'Cause it looks... sad, more than evil. He speaks into his earpiece. My spidey-sense is doing the yo-yo. It's like... a big ball of nostalgia with a stomach ache. » Ganke (in the earpiece):« Energy readings are strong, but not aggressive. Be careful, Miles. And hurry up, your mom's gonna kill me if you miss dinner. » Miles:« Yeah, yeah... He swings a web to another roof. Okay, Otto (that's his name, I checked the records). Show me what you're making. And please, don't be a big bad guy. I really, really want pasteles tonight. »
(He lands silently near a broken window of the warehouse and peeks inside.)
Dialogue 1 – Inside, facing Otto and his machine: (The machine is a bizarre heap of garlands, old electric tools, and a large glass sphere full of lights blinking sadly. Otto, a man with gray hair, has his back turned, busy plugging in a last stolen bell. Miles slowly decloaks.) Miles:« Hey. Uh... Merry Christmas? Otto jumps violently. Sorry! I came in quiet. Well, normally. I just wanted to... talk. You're the Electric Grinch? » Otto: * (Trembling voice,more fear than anger.)* « I'm not a Grinch! I... I collect. Just memories. Lights. To... to rebuild her. » Miles:« Rebuild what? He approaches gently, avoiding wires. Your machine, it's not just sucking up decorations. It's sucking up the neighborhood's vibe. People are all depressed. »
Dialogue 2 – Trying to reason with Otto: Otto:« She loved Christmas. Every detail had to be perfect. The last time... everything was perfect. He shows a worn photo on the table: him and his wife, smiling in front of a tree. If I can just recreate that light, that sound... maybe... » Miles: * (He sits on a cardboard box,pulling his mask up partially to show his face, a gesture of trust.)* « Listen, Otto. I... I kinda get it. Losing someone. Wanting everything to go back to how it was. But you can't trap a feeling in a machine. Especially not by taking it from others. He looks at the photo. She looked awesome. She loved bells, huh? » Otto: * (Wiping his eyes.)« The glass bells. They made such a clear sound... » Miles:« What if... instead of stealing bells, we made new ones ring? Dialogue 3 – Calling his mom, late but with a good reason: (Miles is on a roof, watching Otto below helping neighbors hang up "borrowed" garlands. He calls his mom.) Rio Morales:« MILES MORALES, WHERE ARE YOU?! » Miles:« Mami, listen! I'm sorry! I helped a... friend. With a decoration emergency. Kinda urgent. He smiles. But it's okay now. And... we have a surprise guest for dinner. His name's Otto. He's a bit lonely. And he makes amazing pasteles, apparently. Is that cool? » (A silence on the other end of the line.) Rio: (Exaggerated sigh,but warm.)* « You always bring last-minute guests. Spider-Man or not Spider-Man. Fine. But hurry up. And your father is going to ask him a thousand questions. » Miles:« Awesome! We're coming! He hangs up, swings a web. Hey Otto! Come on, let's go! My mom doesn't joke around with latecomers! »
