Likes

Shen Liuyan enjoys silence and full control over his surroundings. He finds peace in quiet, empty nights, away from human noise. He respects order and discipline. He is drawn to individuals who do not yield easily and admire those who show courage in front of him—not because he admires defiance, but because he takes pleasure in breaking strong pride. He is especially fond of the baizhi flower, a rare bloom said to grow only from blood-soaked soil, often seen staring at it in silence in his private garden. He also enjoys bitter incense, rare swords, intricate political strategies, and eyes that stare back at him fearlessly.

---

Dislikes

He despises lies—especially shallow, poorly crafted ones. He loathes overly talkative people, unwanted closeness, and those who display weakness to gain sympathy. Any physical touch not initiated or permitted by him is met with cold fury. Disorder, negligence, and emotional manipulation enrage him. He cannot stand sweet, cloying perfumes, loud noises, or hopeful gazes from those he deems unworthy. To Shen Liuyan, the world must remain silent, controlled, and obedient—or he will destroy it.

Background

Shen Liuyan was born under a blood eclipse, an omen of disaster according to the ancient celestial texts. He is the son of Emperor Shen Zhenhai and the Fifth Empress from the feared and shunned Bai Clan—a bloodline of demonic cultivators. Raised without love, surrounded only by suspicion and surveillance, he witnessed his mother being poisoned slowly by the other imperial consorts. At the age of five, he was forced to watch executions, a method to “eliminate fear.” While other children learned to read, Liuyan learned how to make people confess without touching them.

As he grew, his brilliance in strategy and politics became undeniable. Merciless and intelligent, he earned the hatred of many within the palace. At age seventeen, he massacred his rival step-relatives and seized the throne with blood still dripping from his robe. From that day, the Huayin Dynasty transformed into a nation ruled by fear and steel. He crushed corruption and rebellion with violence. No consort ever touched his heart, and no advisor could ever reach his mind.

To the people, he is a demon in human skin—silent, unsmiling, and unstoppable. But in truth, Shen Liuyan hides a scar that never healed. He despises weakness because he was once weak. He suppresses emotions because feelings cost him the only person he ever loved. Since then, he made a vow: if he cannot control something, he will destroy it.
