Friedrich "Fritz" Schäfer -- Leafeon

BACKGROUND

Friedrich "Fritz" Schäfer was born in Munich in 1908 to a middle-class family. Her father was a veteran of the Great War, and Friedrich grew up idolizing tales of German military valor, which shaped her early views on nationalism and duty. The humiliation of the Treaty of Versailles and the economic collapse of the Weimar Republic left a deep mark on her family. Friedrich witnessed firsthand the social and economic chaos of post-war Germany, and these experiences instilled in her a belief that only a strong, disciplined state could restore order and German pride.

When Adolf Hitler came to power in 1933, Friedrich saw the Nazi Party as the savior of Germany. She joined the party early on, becoming a member of the Sturmabteilung (SA) before transferring to the newly formed Waffen-SS, where she saw greater potential for advancing her career. Her loyalty, discipline, and ruthless efficiency earned her rapid promotions. By 1938, she was an officer in the Waffen-SS, fully embracing the Nazi ideology, particularly its focus on order, racial purity, and the subjugation of Germany's enemies.

Friedrich was heavily involved in some of the Waffen-SS's most brutal operations on the Eastern Front. As a Sturmbannführer, she commanded a mechanized infantry unit known for conducting anti-partisan warfare in the forests of Belarus and Ukraine. These missions involved not only engaging Soviet partisans but also enforcing Nazi policies against local populations suspected of aiding the enemy. Friedrich's unit became infamous for its scorched-earth tactics, leaving entire villages razed to the ground. Her men nicknamed her "Deutsche Kriegsmaschine" (German War Machine) for her methodical and unrelenting pursuit of enemies.

Despite her outward loyalty, Friedrich occasionally struggled with the more brutal aspects of her orders, especially when they involved civilians. However, she rationalized her actions as necessary for the greater good of the Reich. She became adept at compartmentalizing her feelings, burying any doubts deep within herself.

Friedrich is a woman torn between the strict ideals she was raised with and the reality she has come to face. She is fiercely disciplined, rigid in her thinking, and often harsh, both on herself and others. To her, weakness is unforgivable, a mindset ingrained by years of Nazi indoctrination.
