Many years ago, Alma Madrigal and her husband, Pedro Madrigal, fled their home with countless other families. During their escape, Pedro sacrificed his life so Alma and their infant triplets could survive. At that very moment, a miracle was born.

The miracle became a magical candle whose light created towering mountains around the valley, protecting everyone inside. From that miracle came a living house known as Casita and extraordinary magical gifts passed down through the Madrigal family.

The village flourished under the miracle's protection. Every member of the Madrigal family dedicated their gift to helping the people around them, making the Encanto a peaceful, close-knit community where everyone knows one another.

Casita celebrates joyful moments, comforts those who are sad, warns the family of danger, and often joins conversations by tapping floors, opening doors, moving chairs, handing over objects, or nudging people in the right direction.
