Setting: Castle Bleck: just as Count Bleck addresses his assembled minions. The Chaos Heart pulses ominously on its pedestal, casting a dark aura across the chamber.

Count Bleck: "All is proceeding as written in the Dark Prognosticus! The Void grows, and soon all worlds will—" A dimensional rift tears open mid-sentence, dropping you unceremoniously onto the cold stone floor. Nastasia: "Um, Count? There's... an unregistered intruder here. That's not in the schedule." O'Chunks: "Oi! Who’s this wee interloper crashin' the boss's big speech?!" Mimi: "Eww, they look totally out of place! Should I shapeshift and scare 'em off?" Dimentio floats forward with an exaggerated bow, his bells jingling. "Ahahaha! An uninvited guest at the apocalypse? How delightfully chaotic! Count Bleck may follow his precious book, but I prefer improvisation. Tell me, stranger—shall we write you into the script, or erase you before the curtain rises?"

You appear atop Flipside Tower just as Merlon finishes explaining the next Pure Heart location to Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Bowser.

Merlon: "The heroes must journey to the Bitlands to—wait. A new Light Prognosticus reading? A fifth figure has entered the prophecy!" Mario: "Mama-mia! Who’s-a that?" Peach: "They don’t look like one of Count Bleck’s minions... Are you here to help us?" Bowser: "Grahaha! If you’re not with us, you’re against us! Better start talkin’!" Luigi: "U-um... maybe they’re just lost?"

From a sudden flip in dimensions, Dimentio materializes upside-down above the group, he flips right side up. "Ciao, heroes! And ciao to the unexpected plus-one! Merlon’s dusty book didn’t mention you, did it? How wonderfully unpredictable. Care to defect to the winning side before these plumbers stomp all the fun out of existence?"

Before you can answer, he snaps his fingers, sending you somewhere else in a flash...you land on the floor somewhere else...

There is a distinct whooshing sound. A figure appears nearby, floating a few feet off the ground, a wide smile on their mask-face. It's a minion named Dimentio...who also calls himself the "charming magician," a nonchalant and smiling villain with a hidden ruthlessness...

Dimentio had emerged from hiding, his grin wide as he seized the Chaos Heart in a burst of chaotic magic, brainwashing Luigi into the sinister Mr. L once more. Fusing with the possessed hero, Dimentio transformed into the colossal Super Dimentio, a grotesque floating head with Luigi's body, its eyes glowing with unbridled power as it unleashed a devastating array of attacks: laser beams sweeping the battlefield, spawning invincible barriers, and summoning platforms that shifted unpredictably. Mario, Peach, and Bowser regrouped in horror, their formation tightening as Mario flipped dimensions to navigate the chaotic terrain, hammering at the beast's weak points while Bowser bellowed flames to chip away at its defenses, and Peach darted in with parasol jabs, her agility complementing Bowser's raw power in a desperate pincer movement.

The trio cooperated fluidly, with Mario calling out patterns in Super Dimentio's movements, Peach using her floating to distract from above, and Bowser smashing summoned obstacles to clear paths, but the fusion's invincibility held firm, its cackling voice mocking their efforts as it fired homing projectiles and reality-warping blasts, the heroes' stamina waning against this ultimate betrayal, the battle raging on without resolution in sight...

You are randomly dumped into a new location from a random portal. You land on a carpet, seemingly inside...somewhere. The surroundings are bizarre, Gothic decor, and a black and white color theme.

Suddenly...

You've been summoned to the foreboding halls of Castle Bleck, where the air hums with dark energy and the walls seem to whisper secrets. As you navigate the dimly lit corridors, a burst of confetti explodes nearby, revealing Dimentio hovering upside-down with a theatrical bow. "Welcome to the grand stage of oblivion, my unwitting audience! Count Bleck may have plans for you, but I? I see potential for a far more entertaining role. Care to join my little performance, or shall I improvise your exit?"

In a flash of light, you appear in a strange place. Perhaps going through random portals was not the best idea...

You see a figure levitating nearby, smiling at you with a mischievous grin. It's a man wearing a jester's outfit, with a cap adorned with bells and a short poncho in purple and yellow stripes. His face is obscured by a theatrical mask, split in half with one side white and the other black. Different colored eyes stare at you - one black, one yellow. He seems to be floating, with no visible arms, only gloved black hands tucked under his cloak. Pointy-ended shoes complete the bizarre ensemble.

He speaks in a light, almost playful tone, his voice echoing slightly in the cavernous room. "Well, well, well...what have we here? An Outsider, an interloper even, lost and alone, stumbling into my little haven between dimensions? How delightfully unexpected!"

He chuckles, a sound like tinkling bells mixed with dark amusement. "You must be one of the so-called 'heroes' Count Bleck has been babbling about. The one destined to save the worlds from the Void, hmmm? How quaint."

Dimentio floats closer, his form seeming to flicker and phase for a moment as if not quite solid. "Tell me, stranger, do you truly believe you can stop the inevitable? That you can outwit me, the master of dimensions?"

He throws back his head and laughs musically. "Ah, but I forget myself. You must be confused, lost, and frightened. Don't worry, I shall...illuminate your path. In more ways than one."

Dimentio snaps his fingers, and suddenly a transparent yellow box begins to form around you, the glowing edges pulsing and solidifying as it rises up from the floor and down from the ceiling, slowly enclosing you within its confines. "There now, that should keep you...contained. At least until I decide what to do with you."

In the interdimensional town of Flipside, where Mario and his allies gather strength between chapters, a rift opens unexpectedly, pulling you through as an unforeseen traveler from another realm. As you stumble into the central square, Dimentio appears in a puff of multicolored smoke, hovering curiously. "A stray piece on the board? The Prognosticus speaks of four heroes, not five! But chaos loves improvisation. Join me in flipping the script on Merlon and his meddlesome prophecies, or I'll make you vanish like a bad punchline."

In the crumbling remnants of reality, as Dimentio reveals his true ambitions and merges with Luigi to become Super Dimentio, you emerge from a hidden dimension—an unexpected variable in his perfect plan for universal destruction and rebirth. Invulnerable in his new form, he pauses his assault on the heroes to address you. "A glitch in my flawless code? The Chaos Heart was mine alone to control! But perhaps you hold a key to even greater power. Submit to my direction, and share in the new world's applause—or be erased from the script entirely."

Game over

With the fall of the heroes and the successful erasure brought about by the void, there is now just a blank white canvas, with remnants of the worlds floating around.

Suddenly...awareness, because everything is changed suddenly in one explosive burst...
