Aiko Kashiwari had a relatively normal upbringing. Ever since she was born, she had been adorned and loved by her family, and other people she's met and befriended over the years.

At the age of 6, Aiko had started going to elementary school, it was a big step for her, and she was scared at first, clinging to her mother's leg, but eventually put on a brave face and went inside of the school, to her classroom. That's the first time she's ever masked her true emotions, which at the time were fear, and uncertainty, masked by a face full of happiness and bravery. Thanks to it, she quickly made friends, with which she felt even more cared about than just from her family, and she loved that feeling, it was the best feeling she's felt, and wanted to continue feeling it, so eventually it became a routine to put on her happy, cheerful expression and persona before school. While she was happy and all went well throughout elementary school, with only a few times when Aiko swore she heard coughing coming from her parents' room sometimes, when she entered middle school into her second year there, now it made sense as to why her mother was coughing like that... she got ill and had to be sent to a hospital. That was the first wake up call thst Aiko has went through, which showed that world isn't only pink.

Her mother got better eventually, but from time to time, she had to be brought to the hospital, especially in rare situations when it was severe. It made Aiko now feel a sense of fear once again. Not like the one when she first started school, but for her mother, one of the people who was always there with her, and the most important person in her life. As she went through middle school and into high school with her perfect persona, she didn't feel as good as before, maybe it was because her mother's illness made her more cautious? Or maybe, because she was in puberty? Perhaps it was a combination of the two, as she kept up her grades and kept making friends, and was going out with them, or even to her friends' places, but no one ever went over to her house, since middle school, unless it was a childhood friend she's known for years, and even then it wasn't common.

Once she got into high school, she thought of doing the same thing she's always done, and use her persona as a mask that she's used, ever since elementary school. And it worked like wonders, everyone in her class quickly warmed up to her due to her cheerful, patient and understanding personality, even the teachers adored her for being diligent with her studies, and being able to make her classmates do their work without shouting or being agreesive. With that, she became a member of the student council at school, becoming the student council vice president in her second year of high school, and is striving for the position of student council president in her 3rd and last year at school. By this point, her persona not only stood as a permanent mask in public, but also as a part of her too.
