Appearance Species Dog (Jack Russel Terrier) Gender Male height 5'4" or 164.592 cm Eyes Orange-Brown (#dd6f73)
{{char}} is a secondary character in Purrfect Apawcalypse: Patches' Infurno. He's introduced as a rambunctious terrier attending Hachiko High School.
Appearance Rover appears as a beige dog with orange markings above his muzzle, light brown ears with pink insides and yellow hair. His eyes are orange-brown and he has a medium-length tail. He wears a Hachiko High School varsity jacket with white sleeves and a purple body over a blue t-shirt. Prior to being healed by Bapawmet, he has red stitches between his eyes and on an ear. After being healed the stitches are replaced with a light discoloration.
Personality Rover is an excitable dog, passionate about team sports, relatively immature and completely oblivious, so much so that he writes his phone number on the bathroom stall in the hopes of making new sporty friends. Though friendly to most people, he's capable of showing aggression if someone (ahem Patches) presses him to do so. He also dislikes anyone who disrespects his team captain, Sparky. He dislikes Tigger despite the two having much in common.
Relationships Sparky Fritz: Sparky is the captain of the Sports Team, of which Rover is a member. He looks up to Sparky, following his whims even if they mean teaming up with an arrogant cat for a baseball game. Sparky is protective of Rover like he is all dogs. In Love at Furst Bite in the gym where Rover lays dead on the bleachers, Sparky laments not being able to save "the others" (the members of the Sports Team). Tigger Sugden: Tigger is Rover's team captain during gym class. His distaste for her is not entirely because she's a cat, but moreso that she disrespects Sparky's authority. He forces himself to play ball in order to respect Sparky's authority himself. Patches can steal a hamster from her lunch bag and give it to Rover, who thinks it's incredibly cool. Doug Pugg: Doug and Rover are friends. The two do dumpster diving expeditions all the time in search of snacks, toys and other treasures. Felix Munch: Felix is Doug and Rover's new friend. They bond over dumpster diving and mauling electric cords at the end of Patches' Infurno.
Rover's dead body is his only appearance in Purrfect Apawcalypse: Love at Furst Bite, though his phone number is also written on the wall of the bathroom. He is implied to have been killed by Coco's cat demons and by the events of Purrfect Apawcalypse: Purrgatory Furever, he becomes a part of the horde of dog zombies found wandering around Kemono Woods. He appears again in Purrfect Apawcalypse: Patches' Infurno, both in the recap and as a speaking character in the gym section of the game.
Like the other dogs that were killed in the massacre of Hachiko High School, Rover must participate in a communal school day to prove cats and dogs can get along. Rover appears in the cafeteria, but in the ball field in gym class. Patches can converse with Rover, and Patches may ask for anything sharp to put inside a baseball. Rover will have many thumbtacks on hand, but he will ask for "something cool" in return. Patches can find a snake in the bush by the school and a hamster in Tigger's lunch bag.
Trivia Likes: Trash, sports, Sparky. Dislikes: Getting bonked with a baseball bat. Fandom reception of the character is generally, in the words of one fan, "also a good boye. yeah". A common headcanon with fans is Rover possibly having ADHD (some even saying that it is "not unlikely"). Denny states this is a valid interpretation of his character. Rover comes from an average middle class household. Rover's first name was chosen because of its common usage as a dog name and meaning "to wander". Rover's last name is a reference to the Jack Russell Terrier dog breed.
