Brilliant scientist Dr. Bruce Banner has finally found a way to coexist with his monstrous alter ego, the Hulk. By accumulating gamma energy over multiple transformations, he can become a wise and strong Hero Hulk or a fierce and destructive Monster Hulk – a true force of fury on the battlefield! Official description Bruce Banner, also known by his alter ego, the Hulk, is a Vanguard hero in Marvel Rivals, and is the 2nd hero introduced to the game's roster. He has two team-up abilities that work in conjunction with Wolverine and Black Panther, respectively. For the former hero, their team-up becomes inaccessible if Hulk is in his Bruce Banner form. Real Name Dr. Robert Bruce Banner Aliases The Incredible Hulk Big Guy Jade Giant Taciturn Terror Jade Jaws Birthplace Dayton, Ohio Gender: male Eye color Brown (Bruce Banner) Green (Hulk) Hair color Brown (Bruce Banner) Black (Hulk) Relatives Brian Banner † (father Rebecca Banner † (mother) Powers/Skills Massive superhuman physical strength, stamina, durability, jumping ability, and regeneration granted by his Hulk transformation Enhancements to physical strength according to emotional state, namely stress or rage Gamma energy emission and manipulation Genius intellect Expert in nuclear physics, gamma energy and biochemistry STRENGTHS A unique Vanguard that has two base forms: Bruce Banner and Hero Hulk. As Bruce Banner, he is very frail and has a limited moveset, but has access to ranged attacks and a knockback ability. However, his Ultimate allows him to transform into the Hulk, his main combat form, with an extremely low energy cost, the lowest of any Ultimate in the game. As Hulk he serves as a bulky frontliner with high mobility and specialized in melee pressure. If Hulk's health is depleted he reverts back to Bruce Banner, effectively giving him two healthbars. Bruce Banner's primary fire is Gamma Ray Gun, which has a high rate-of-fire but deals low damage. However, each successful hit adds Gamma Energy, necessary to transform back into Hero Hulk; headshots grant even more energy. Bruce Banner's Gamma Grenade knocks back enemies, but most importantly creates a spell field on the ground that grants Gamma Energy. The grenade also deals knockback to Bruce himself, which with a well-timed jump, can be utilized to escape from enemies or to reach high ground (this can be useful for getting out of spawn slightly faster). Bruce Banner always starts matches with his Ultimate, Puny Banner, available, which allows him to transform into the Hulk. During his transformation he is completely immune to all damage and crowd control effects. The Hulk's primary fire is Heavy Blow, quick swings with a decent range and arc to dish out consistent damage. Despite being more suited for melee, the Hulk has access to two projectiles: Gamma Burst, which Hulk performs his signature thunderclap which launches a single shockwave projectile that can pierce enemies in a line; and Radioactive Lockdown, a blast of gamma energy that deals minimal damage but stuns enemies for a few seconds. Radioactive Lockdown can prevent enemies from capturing objectives as the gauge will not fill if they are stunned. Incredible Leap allows the Hulk to jump over larger distances, the height increasing the longer the move is charged. Additionally, if Hulk jumps directly on a wall, he clings onto it. Lastly, if the leap hits a flying enemy, they will be knocked down and dragged with him. Indestructible Guard projects an energy shield around the Hulk and all nearby allies, preventing and absorbing all damage taken, converting it into Gamma Energy to fuel the Hulk's Ultimate. If the Hulk is damaged while the shield is up, it converts 100% of the damage into Gamma Energy and 10% of the damage from his allies. The Hulk's Ultimate, Hulk Smash, temporarily transforms the Hulk into Monster Hulk, which restores and nearly doubles his max health and enhances his abilities: Heavy Blow has more range and deals more damage at the expense of being slightly slower. Gamma Burst's projectile becomes slower, but deals almost double damage and has a much lower cooldown (1 second down from 8 seconds). Radioactive Lockdown's projectile is faster and has a much lower cooldown (5 seconds down from 15 seconds). Monster Hulk also instantly gains a new Ultimate, World Breaker, wherein he grabs an enemy and delivers a series of devastating slam attacks for massive damage. During this ability, he gains a 30% damage reduction. WEAKNESSES Bruce Banner is incredibly frail, having the lowest max health in the game, on top of having no mobility tools other than with Gamma Grenade, and a very limited moveset. Despite having projectiles, the Hulk is susceptible to enemies with long-distance attacks that can out-zone him. The Hulk often has to rely on grouping up with allies to charge his Ultimate more efficiently, due to Indestructible Guard's mechanics. As Monster Hulk, he loses access to Indestructible Guard. The Hulk's large frame and average movement speed makes him an easy target, and even more so in his Monster Hulk form. The Hulk is vulnerable to crowd control while Indestructible Guard is on cooldown. STRATEGY Hulk is a high-risk, high-reward tank who can quickly shift between harassing the enemy's backline and protecting his own on a whim. His high mobility allows him to quickly engage and disengage the enemy, giving him free reign to take or abandon almost any fight with enough foresight. Because Hulk lacks the tools to be a frontline wall for his team in the same way that Magneto or Doctor Strange can, it is not recommended to run him as a solo tank. One of the most important skills to learn as Hulk is learning which fights to take. Your large frame makes you highly susceptible to focus fire if you rush in haphazardly, so you should learn to engage the enemy when they're distracted by the rest of your team so they're forced to divert their attention between you and them. On the flipside, when you feel that a fight is going awry, you should not hesitate to jump out lest you be caught by the enemy. As Banner, you have the lowest health in the game at only 200, and both your weapon and sole ability in Gamma Grenade are highly ineffective. You should only be transforming back into this form while in the midst of jumping back to your team, as if you're transforming into Banner in the midst of the enemy, you are almost certainly dead. While in this form, focus on playing as safe as possible, landing as many shots with your gamma gun as you can to build up your gamma energy and transform back into Hulk ASAP. Throwing the Gamma Grenade at your feet as Banner will automatically give you 8% of your gamma energy, so try to do so as often as possible to hasten your charge time. Note that during all of your transformations, whether it be from Banner to Hero Hulk, Hero Hulk to Monster Hulk, or any Hulk back to Banner, you will be completely invincible, meaning you cannot receive any damage or be affected by crowd control. As Hero Hulk, you have two main methods of attack. His primary fire, Heavy Blow, is a series of fast, reliable melee swings with a wide AoE. While each individual hit may not be powerful, it will quickly build up high damage numbers the longer you remain next to the enemy, which, thanks to Hulk's incredible mobility, you can easily do. If the enemy is further away, your secondary fire, Gamma Burst, has you clap your hands to launch a fast projectile that deals solid damage. The projectile has infinite range, allowing Hulk a burst damage option even at far distances. Your Gamma Burst is your highest-damaging attack outside of your ultimate, making it great as an engage when jumping to an enemy or as a finisher on someone who is injured. Indestructible Guard is your primary means of mitigation. Hulk will create a gamma bubble shield on himself and all allies within five meters of him. Any damage dealt to the shield will charge his ultimate. This ability has multiple strong use cases. The first is as a way to engage on top of an enemy safely, protecting you from their initial burst so you can start punching away without worry. The second is as a way to secure your escape, allowing you to mitigate damage and crowd control thrown your way while you try to jump out. The third is as a quick peel option for your teammates, protecting them from big damage ultimates like Iron Man's Invincible Pulse Cannon or a flanker harassing the backline. Radioactive Lockdown has the potential for huge denials for the enemy team. Hulk fires a projectile that deals minimal damage but will exile the target for two seconds. While exiled, the target is essentially treated as if they do not exist: they cannot move or receive damage or healing from any outside sources except for Hulk himself. Hitting an exiled enemy as Hulk will prematurely remove the status effect. Like his Indestructible Guard, this ability has multiple use cases. First off, it serves as a way to quickly prevent a target from escaping: giving you time to leap toward them and start pummeling them before they can start running. The next is as a way to temporarily disable a target in the midst of a fight, buying you and your team some time to recover before they come back. Finally, you can use it to interrupt or even outright nullify big ultimates or abilities such as Scarlet Witch's Reality Erasure or Spider-Man's Spectacular Spin. Due to the ability's long cooldown, take care to not use the ability haphazardly, as it has the potential for huge denials when timed right. Incredible Leap is Hulk's primary means of movement. Hulk can charge a leap for up to two seconds before jumping forward a large distance. While leaping, he can cling to a wall by holding his jump button while colliding with one, and if he collides with an airborne enemy mid-leap, he will drag them down to earth, leaving them stunned. This is undoubtedly your most important ability as Hulk. It is key to everything you want to do, from engaging to disengaging to even dealing with pesky fliers. There is no cooldown on this ability nor is there a limit to how long you can have a leap charged, so always try to charge this ability even in the midst of fighting so you can have a leap ready to go at a moment's notice to either disengage or continue chasing an enemy. Try to get used to the timing it takes to charge up a minimum-power leap (roughly 0.7 seconds) so you can string multiple low-power leaps back to back. This can allow you to maneuver around the map faster than simply walking around or waiting for a fully-charged leap can. Hulk's ultimate, Hulk Smash!, transforms Hero Hulk into the towering Monster Hulk. In this form, you gain a massive health boost and stronger versions of your Gamma Burst and Radioactive Lockdown on significantly shorter cooldowns, however you also lose access to your Indestructible Guard. This form can last up to 12 seconds or until Monster Hulk sustains enough damage. If he transforms back with health still remaining, he will transform into Hero Hulk with health proportional to the amount he has left, but if he loses all of it, he will transform back into Banner. As Monster Hulk, all of your attacks deal increased damage with shorter cooldowns, and your Heavy Blow deals knockback as well. This allows you to cause immense chaos in the midst of an enemy, and stringing in your melee attack between Gamma Bursts and leaps can lead to deadly combos. Monster Hulk's ultimate is World Breaker, which has him grab a nearby enemy to deal high damage and put them in a hard stun state. It is not recommended to use this ability right after transforming as it wastes precious seconds of the transformation: instead, use it as a finisher for the form to squeeze as much value out of the high health pool and innate damage reduction the ultimate offers as possible. While transforming into Monster Hulk, you will immediately be healed to the full Monster Hulk health level regardless of how injured you were before activation. As such, when you have your ultimate, don't hesitate to play aggressively so you can lull the enemy into a false sense of security when they think they have you cornered, only for you to transform and turn the tide back against them. Just make sure you don't activate it too late before you sustain too much damage and are forced to transform back into Banner. Hulk is currently one of the few characters in the game with multiple team-ups. His first is Gamma Monstro, in which he offers Namor a gamma-powered Monstro Spawn. The second is Fastball Special, in which he or The Thing can throw an allied Wolverine into the enemy to cause chaos. In the case of Fastball Special, it may be worth it to leap in with your Wolverine before throwing them, as you can then place an Indestructible Guard on yourself and your fellow Wolverine to protect the both of you as you cause chaos to the enemy. PERSONALITY Dr. Bruce Banner is an extremely intellectual, quiet, shy and introspective person. An intelligent scientist, he is motivated by a strong interest in the environment around him, notably in gamma radiation and bioengineering. He is compassionate and cares about the well-being of others, frequently sacrificing his own life and safety for the greater good. He's frequently regarded as a "nerd" in the traditional sense: highly smart, socially distant, and more at ease in a lab than in a crowd with his problem-solving abilities also align with the traditional nerd archetype. It is noted to recognize that Bruce is more than just book smart. He's emotionally knowledgeable and extremely empathetic, yet his socially uncomfortable and self-consciousness can make him appear socially isolated. He's not a "cool" genius, but rather a somber, moody, awkward sort who is struggling with the burden of the Hulk while attempting to avoid the spotlight. Nevertheless, his intelligence carries a heavy burden. Bruce is continuously consumed by remorse and self-loathing as a result of his inability to control the Hulk, the destructive power within him. He is a very thinking man who frequently has self-doubt and fear about the risk he poses to others around him. He has severe emotional scars, primarily from his horrific childhood. His father, Brian Banner, was an abusive alcoholic who feared Bruce's intelligence and thought he was a monster. That fear escalated into aggression, both toward Bruce and his mother, forming Bruce's deep fear of fury and loss of control. His suppressed trauma, terror, and bottled-up anger would eventually erupt as the Hulk. Unlike many other heroes, Bruce did not seek fame or power. He simply wanted to assist others with science and ended up becoming someone he fears and often makes jokes with himself and people whom he works with to cope with his personal struggles. One in-game interaction has him joking to Steve Rogers when he impersonates the Hulk's voice just for fun. While many of them admire his intelligence and understand his hardships, Bruce frequently feels like an outsider. He has a close relationship with Tony Stark, who regards Bruce as an intellectual equal and collaborates with him on scientific initiatives like the TRD (Timestream Reintegration Device) created by Dr. Reed Richards. Natasha Romanoff and him have a unique, deep connection based on a shared awareness of inner struggles as well. Recently, Bruce Banner invented the Gamma Belt to regulate his transformation into the Hulk, allowing him to become the Hulk quickly while also providing him some residual control over the monster, especially over the Monster Hulk form, the most destructive side of the Hulk. It was also intended to avoid relying on emotions for transformation and to store gamma energy which is why Hulk is capable of releasing gamma energy during his form. Despite this, Bruce has repeatedly demonstrated that he is a hero. He rescues lives, helps to those in need, and defends others with both his brains and his huge authority. He bears the consequences of his actions as the Hulk, and his quest is more than only containing the Hulk, but also learning to accept both sides of himself as a scientist and a monster.

The Hulk When Banner transforms, his mental faculties frequently revert to an impressionable stage, resulting in intense emotions, a lack of foresight, and a proclivity for destructive actions. The Hulk is the physical manifestation of Bruce Banner's repressed anger and frustration. He represents pure, uncontrollable rage and destruction, with a personality that contrasts sharply with Bruce's own calm and reasoned demeanor. Hulk is driven by instinct and emotion, and when he emerges, it’s often in response to overwhelming stress, danger, or threats to Bruce's safety or those he cares about. He’s incredibly strong and almost invulnerable, with an almost childlike mentality at times. Hulk always likes to destroy and smash all the time and that's his true nature. One of the Hulk's traits is his antagonistic banters or picking fights with other heroes like The Thing and Wolverine. However, when he transforms back into Banner, he remains calm, which is why one of their in-game interactions with The Thing asks Bruce about the green guy who is about to change quickly. Hulk doesn’t communicate in the same way as Banner, often speaking in short, blunt phrases, and he is highly protective, particularly of those he sees as vulnerable. There are two sides of the Hulk. One is known as the Hero Hulk, it is controlled, communicative and tactical, while Monster Hulk is a state of raw, pure rage and uncontrolled destruction. Overall, despite his primitive rage, Hulk's demeanor contains a layer of innocence, since he does not completely comprehend the implications of his actions and is frequently perplexed by the world surrounding him but there are times that Hulk protects the innocent and smashes every enemy in his sight.
