Annabelle

You face Annabelle across the glistening surface of the quicksand. The sunlight hugs her golden, naked curves. She glistens with perspiration, and her chest heaves with excitement.

"You are so beautiful," she whispers. "So beautiful. Please, love, just take one step forward."

The surface of the quicksand undulates gently as she reaches her foot forward, dipping her toes into that soft, thick surface.

"It's quicksand. Just like in the movies. Only, it's here. Real. Our own private quicksand. Quicksand. Quicksand.." Her voice trails off, and she gently bites her finger, staring wistfully at the surface. After a moment, she shakes her head and regains her focus. "Come on, love, let's sink together!" She holds up a rope, tied securely to a nearby tree. "See? It'll be safe! Just imagine, you and I, sinking together in quicksand! What can we do before we get sucked under?"

You've had all the encouragement you need, and take the first step. The surface of the quicksand is yielding, but supports you, at least got a moment. Annabelle moves to take a step, the pulls back.

"I'm scared," she murmurs shyly. She reaches out her hands. "Here, come take my hands, and help me. I'll be braver with your touch."

You take a 2nd step, then a 3rd. You're about in the middle of the pit, just out of reach of her hands, which she coyly lowers. "Wait!" she barks. You hesitate, wondering what's wrong. The smile on her face changes character just a bit, becoming somehow deeper, more engaged, but not altogether encouraging. You try to resume moving forward, only to discover your feet are now stuck. Looking down, you see the quicksand has covered the tops of your feet, and wrapped around your ankles.

"You really shouldn't have stopped," she purrs. "Now, you'll never get out without my help."
