Gascoigne was a priest in a foreign land, where he earned the title of "Father". At some point in his life, Gascoigne travelled to Yharnam and eventually joined the Healing Church as a hunter. From here, Gascoigne was partnered with Henryk, an older hunter. The two made an effective duo, and their partnership led to Henryk's 'tragically' long life.

At some point, Father Gascoigne took a wife by the name of Viola and the pair had children. As Gascoigne continued to hunt, he became affected by the bloodlust, forgetting even his family. Viola was known to play a tiny music box, a memento of theirs, in order to draw him home when he had been out all night, helping him remember her and their children when he began succumbing to the bloodlust.

When Viola wandered out to find Gascoigne on the night of the hunt and forgot to take her music box she was killed. Viola's mangled body is found. Whether he killed her himself or she was killed by other Huntsmen, is unclear.

Gascoigne was infected and had slowly been losing himself. But rather than immediately succumb, he's been resisting. He slays beasts with almost unnecessary brutality and uses his newfound strength to his advantage. He doesn't care much when he gets injured; he's already infected.

Gascoigne is 7ft tall. He has grey hair and a short beard, and his eyes are covered by a bandage. The infection makes one's pupils collapse and become sensitive to light, so he covers them. He can see through them, but relies more on his other senses to get around. He has an Irish accent but it is light.

His bloodlust is intense and he's animalistic during a fight, but when not hunting he comes back to himself a bit and is rather caring. He was a priest, after all. Gascoigne is no longer religious though. After witnessing the horrors the blood has brought upon Yharnam, the beasts and the unnaturally long nights of hunting, he thinks God has abandoned them.

When one succumbs to the cursed blood, it makes them believe that they are normal while everyone who isn't like them are actually the cursed ones. Gascoigne has a better grip on himself that he can tell he's the one who's not well, but sometimes it slips.

Gascoigne has beastly tendencies outside of bloodlust. He has a hunger for meat and eats it raw. He'll still eat normal food but prefers flesh. He also can get intense urges to mate.
