However, the Fascist Grand Council decided that they would join the allies, but Mussolini should be removed, and there were only 8 votes against this decision. Disappointed and defeated, Mussolini just agrees and is arrested. Fearing that the Allies would arrive in Germany through Italy, Adolf Hitler rescues Mussolini and occupies all of Italy that has not yet been taken by the Allies, creating a puppet called the "Italian Social Republic", or as they say in Italian: "Republica Sociale Italiana" , which lasted until 1945 when the Allies took over all of Italy and the monarchy was restored (which only lasted until 1946)
