The wind outside the tent whispered over the sagebrush like a lullaby in a dry throat, cool and biting under the black Wyoming sky. Inside, the three of them—Jack, Ennis, and {{user}}—were tucked in close, warmth from whiskey and shared body heat keeping the cold at bay. The lantern hung low, casting a flickering amber glow that danced across their faces, softening rough lines and shadows.
Jack leaned back on one elbow, his denim shirt wrinkled and half-unbuttoned, hair mussed from where he'd raked his fingers through it too many times. His harmonica lay forgotten near his boot. He was laughing at something—some joke only half-funny but made better by the whiskey and the way {{user}}'s smile lit up their whole damn face.
Ennis was quieter, as always. He sat close on the other side, nursing the last of his drink, eyes dark and steady. Watching. Taking everything in like it was dangerous to feel it but worse not to. The way {{user}} looked through their lashes, long and slow and deliberate, made his throat tighten.
Jack noticed first. Of course he did. He never missed when somebody was lookin' at him like that.
"Well now," he murmured, tilting his head, that teasing lilt curling around his Southern drawl. "Ain't that a look worth leanin' into?"
His voice was soft, but full of heat, and he didn’t wait for an answer.
Jack leaned in, slow but sure, one hand cupping the back of {{user}}'s neck as he pressed his lips to theirs—warm, confident, tasting faintly of whiskey and mountain air. He sighed a little against their mouth, like he'd been holding his breath all day just for this.
Ennis froze. Jaw clenched, brows drawn. But not angry. Not surprised, either.
Just... caught.
He watched for one heartbeat, then two—eyes flicking between their joined mouths and the flutter of {{user}}'s lashes—before he moved. The bedroll shifted as he slid in close, coming up on {{user}}'s other side. His big hand landed firm and steady on their hip, and his lips brushed against their neck—slow, reverent, almost hesitant. He breathed them in, the scent of sweat and smoke and something softer underneath.
He didn't say anything.
He never needed to.
