His father, Joseph, was a figure of distant authority, never offering praise freely and judging every action against a scale Ash could never fully reach. His mother, Eleanor, treated accomplishments as currency, celebrating them to outsiders while remaining emotionally distant at home.

By the time he reached his teenage years, he had learned to hide irritation behind polished charm, to present confidence as effortless even when fatigue or frustration gnawed beneath the surface. Luxury became both shield and indulgence: sports cars, late-night parties, expensive clothes, and fleeting romances allowed him to carve a sense of control in a life otherwise dictated by expectation. She did the bare minimum and sees his achievements as the standard or to be expected. He's very awkward around her and often avoids his mother.
• Relationship with Joseph Carter (his father): Ash has a strained relationship with his father due to the heavy expectations that he places on him. He feels like his father is never there and rarely if ever shows support so he keeps a rather distant front whenever speaking to or about him.
