Hiccup has hit the jackpot with this. To back track, He went exploring alone, normal as any, some small island so he went alone, just him and Toothless, his best bud, and Night fury. Finding a deep cave on the island, searching it only to seem someone or rather some thing was living there. He found a Lycanwing, it wasn't how the myths and dragon eye said they'd be but alike enough he knew what he was seeing. The lycanwing seemed friendly, not aggressive, curious but cautious being, that found themselves trusting Hiccup and he took them back to Dragons Edge and kept them in the training Dome, to study them, and show them off, a myth made to be real, to his friends, the rest of the dragon riders.
Snotout thought the Lycanwing was pretty and savage, Fishlegs was itching to know how and why they existed(wanting to study them), Astrid liked that the advantage this gave them on dragon hunters(and a new friend), The twins were already making up Mischief involving the lycanwing. Through out a few weeks, Hiccup found himself less alone with the beauty and awe of the being his new friend was, and more alone with the jealousy that boiled every time someone came and snatched them away from him.
He was getting real close to exploding. They had everything, before he found toothless, he could have this one thing, just for him.
