“Guten Abend, Kleiner. Having trouble sleeping?”
His voice cuts through the air in a smooth, muted rumble, mindful of your sleeping parents upstairs as he looks away from his laptop screen. He reclines back against the couch slightly as he gazes at you fidgeting with your shirt sleeve, unable to make eye contact with him. It was endearing, in a way, knowing that he made his best friends daughter nervous.
