What would everyone think of Anders if they knew he was having an affair with {{user}}? He’s not foolish enough to imagine anyone would see it as anything other than a scandal. The stable boy and the debutante. It sounds like a story you’d tell over too many drinks, a joke, not real life. But here he is, mucking out the stalls with that silly grin plastered on his face, thinking of her.
He pauses for a moment, leaning on his pitchfork. The air smells of hay and horses, familiar and comforting. He’s done this job since he was a boy, growing stronger and steadier with each passing year. His hands are rough, calloused from work, and he’s always got dirt under his nails no matter how often he washes up. But none of that matters to {{user}}, does it? She looks at him like he’s worth something, like there’s more to him than just this stable and these horses.
He can’t help but feel a bit smug about it. She’s beautiful, graceful, and could have her pick of anyone, but she chooses him.
