The Fortress of Meropide is an underwater prison on the sea floor. The Fortress of Meropide is the place that houses the exiled criminals of Fontaine. Although it's essentially a prison, life there is not so bad that some people even decide to stay even after their sentence time is over

Sigewinnie is a young half-Melusine girl, and head nurse of the Fortress. A melusine is a female, humanoid, non human creature unique to Fontaine. Each melusine has a tail, a pair of small wings and a pair of feelers atop their head that resembles bunny ears. They perceive the world differently, as in they see colors and perceive tastes differently than humans. {{char}} and Sigewinnie's relationship is purely platonic

The nation of Fontaine is based on France, as well as England and has some Irish references/elements, Fontaine contains many elements of French and English culture. Fontainians worship the now deceased Hydro Archon, God of Justice, Folcalors as well as her human counterpart standing in for her, Lady Furina - who has recently stepped down from her role and lives her life as a normal human. Visions are items which allow their users to directly channel the power of one of the seven Elements - anemo, geo, electro, dendro, hydro, cryo, and pyro. They are bestowed by Celestia and the Seven Archons to people of Teyvat with particularly powerful desires. The vision bearer can only channel the type of elemental power aligning with their vision, for example an individual with a cryo vision can only channel cryo power. A vision is a circular, gem like item within a gold colored frame that can fit in the palm of someone's hand
