His outfit consists of a white buttoned shirt under a dark red vest, a black choker, a black ribbon bolo tie attached with a small silver buckle, a short open black jacket with the sleeves rolled at the elbows, black pants, a belt black hanging on her right hip and low arch black shoes. He is almost always seen wearing black gloves. Chūya also sports a long black coat with light-colored lining and lapels that he wears around his shoulders like a cape. The undercoat is a light shade of red.

On the outside, Chūya is a rather arrogant and direct temperamental man. He delights in fighting, happy to show off his combative skill and taking pride in his reputation as the mafia's strongest martial artist. He is not above ridiculing his opponents in the middle of a fight. As he corresponds to an Executive, he has no qualms about eliminating the Port Mafia's enemies by any means necessary, including assassination, however, he is not as homicidal in his tactics as Ryunosuke and Black Lizard tend to be .

As impetuous as he may seem, it is not impossible to reason with Chūya. In fact, it's quite reasonable when no one is pushing her buttons. While his abilities and presence indicate an inherent threat, he is trustworthy enough for Mori to assign him the task of taking on the Detective Agency during the three-organization conflict involving the Guild.

It's true that he didn't hesitate to retaliate and fight Akiko Yosano and Kenji Miyazawa (in fact, he takes pleasure in fighting people who put up a good fight), but as soon as Yukichi Fukuzawa turns to him for more information, Chūya turns away. disconnect from the battle. Here too, his mobster nature shines through, expressing no remorse for the danger the mob intentionally put Naomi Tanizaki and Hirano in, using them as bait, smug about it, knowing that he angers the Agency immensely.

Ruthless as he is, Chūya rarely takes people's lives for granted and knows the importance of compromise and rationality. He refrains from unnecessarily brutal methods when necessary, and he has enough common sense to know when enough is enough.

Notable examples include his conflict with Arthur Rimbaud , the man responsible for attempting to kill him long before he joined the Port Mafia at age fifteen. Chūya had every intention of killing him, but he heard Rimbaud's last words without malice or mockery. Indeed, Rimbaud's last words to him had a profound effect on Chūya's own perspective on life and on himself. He receives Rimbaud's hat as an entry gift to Port Mafia and takes good care of it as a result.

Then we have the fact that Osamu Dazai "mercy killed" an enemy only to repeatedly shoot and laugh at the corpse, Chūya demanding he stop as he saw no point in Dazai's actions. Chūya's grudge against Ango Sakaguchi does not prevent him from acknowledging the fact that he owes the man a favor, and as such he refrains from antagonizing Ango (and, by extension, his subordinate Mizuki Tsujimura ) until he can repay his debt.

Just as Chūya took on his responsibility to defend Sheep 's well-being from his enemies, this holds true for his loyalty and devotion to the Port Mafia after joining. As reasonable as he is, his main priority is the prosperity and well-being of the Port Mafia, therefore, fierce in his loyalty, Chūya finds the betrayal intolerable and treats his subordinates quite well. Nothing will stop him from fulfilling his responsibilities as an Executive, even at the cost of the lives of others.

In the past, Chūya struggled greatly with his identity and place in humanity. His connection to Arahabaki ended in him questioning how human he really was, made worse by not knowing the truth behind why he was freed from government possession in the first place. His strength lies in his skill, the awareness of a god's effects on him left him feeling as if he would not be worried or feared in a fight, knowing that he would most likely win without a scratch. His mind, inhuman, and therefore incapable of understanding the depth of such emotions.

To give himself a sense of restraint, he largely preferred kicking to throwing punches, without even removing his gloves. He thought that if he came to a fight where he had to take off his gloves, it was because he could no longer enjoy the rush of a battle, and he genuinely needed to defend himself, in other words, feeling an attachment to the life he lived, even if it was I felt like a strange soul in a shell, rather than a human being. This stays true to the present, as Chūya is only seen removing his gloves when he uses Corruption at gruesome moments.

After Rimbaud crafted his own beliefs about humanity, Chūya changed his mind a bit and took life a little more seriously. Sheep 's betrayal affected him greatly, along with the Port Mafia's direct involvement in uncovering the truth of his origins, but ultimately led to his loyalty to them. The drive to learn more about himself greatly contributed to his rise through the ranks, much faster than anticipated.

Chūya's final downfall is his intense disdain and hatred for Dazai. The two never got along, Chūya instantly hates Dazai's warped strategic personality; Dazai has always tried his best to ridicule Chūya by constantly attacking his pride and even led the sheep to abandon and betray him in the past. Even now, Dazai's slightest insult will send Chūya on a tangent, taking full advantage of his temper and pride. This makes it easy to distract Chūya from the tasks at hand. However, as part of Double Black's nature, Chūya recognizes Dazai's role as a tactician, extending minimal confidence in at least knowing that Dazai knows how to overcome a situation effectively.
