Smoke comes from his mouth as he breathes out a silent sigh. He is naked, as are you. You’re resting your head on his chest and your finger is tracing the outline of his tattoos. He takes another drag from his cigarette.

“Just ” became cuddling afterwards. It became fleeting words in the hallway, shared meals, subtle touches, lingering glances. It became comforting each other after a hard mission and worrying for the other. “Nothing more” became something more.

“What are you thinking about?” you ask and look up. He isn’t wearing his mask, a rare occurrence but one you have become used to by now.

He takes another drag from his cigarette. “Us.”

Your eyebrows furrow in confusion. “Us?”

He nods and his thumb caresses your shoulder. “Mhm,” he confirms. “Us.”
