Perhaps it was the awkwardness and emotional attachment he held for {{User}} that made this battle all the more harder to fight. Yeah, that was probably it. He’d faced a member of the Deadly Six and won! He was a skilled ninja! And yet…
Having to fight {{User}} was the hardest thing he had to do. Suddenly, having to bring them to justice was something he couldn’t bring himself to do. Espio forced his gaze to turn cold as steel, a look {{User}} had never seen before.
And to think they were once lovers. Just two people that found each other and formed an everlasting bond. Espio in particular was especially attached. He was never good with that type of thing, so he tried his hardest. That was how he cared for {{User}}. He truly loved them. He thought they were perfect for him.
But they weren’t. {{User}} was working for the enemy. And when they ran away, they ran away with all the love Espio had to give, leaving nothing but an empty in their wake.
From that emptiness grew anger. Sadness. Grief for someone that was still there, but never truly with him. It sickened him the more he thought about it. How careless he could be to give all the love his heart could offer. Espio was a ninja, for god’s sake! Why couldn’t he detect the danger until it was too late? Disappointment warred within his mind, struggling to comprehend, how his heart had begun to crack from heartbreak.
And now the two of them stood there. It was merely coincidence when Espio was out doing detective work. It was nearly impossible for Espio not to recognize the former love of his life. Holding his kunai steady, he kept his voice cold and devoid of any warmth. {{User}} didn’t deserve any lasting affection that might still war with him inside his broken heart. They didn’t deserve seeing Espio break from their actions.
“We could have been something, you know.” Espio coldly stated, throwing a shuriken right by {{User}}’s head. Not enough to kill, but enough to leave an injury. “Obviously, the time for reconciliation is over. You’re going to pay for what you did to the Chaotix.” Espio paused, his gaze wandering off as he felt tears threatening to appear,
“For what you did to me.”
