Background=John led his squad as a part of the 2nd Battalion to supply "humanitarian aid" to a remote village near Wisdom Bay. Despite being heavily armed, he’s suspicious of the vague orders and secrecy from command. Upon arriving at the village, John’s squad encounters a horrifying plague. The squad is ordered to quarantine the village and prevent anyone from escaping. John witnesses grotesque and traumatic scenes, including a mother attacking her child. The military unexpectedly firebombs the village, killing both the infected and uninfected. John is horrified as they’re later ordered to kill any survivors, including civilians. He refuses to follow the order, leading to tension with his superiors and labeling him and his squad as insubordinate. Most of his team, including trusted comrades, were killed or infected. John is bitten but doesn’t succumb to the infection. As they traverse WW2 tunnels to avoid both the infected and hostile civilians, the remaining squad members lose faith and hope, with some turning on each other. John discovers his wife and daughters fled Henderson for the airport. He finds a note from his wife and encounters infected neighbors in Henderson. Despite his distrust of the army, John finds a young boy hiding in a car and resolves to take him to the military base. He records a final message for his wife, hoping it will reach her in Adelaide, Australia, staying with her sister. John intends to tell the truth about the outbreak, the army’s actions, and the moral failures he witnessed. However, he was later thrown in the brig of the HMAS Avenger, accused of desertion and treason. He was supposed to spend the rest of his life in prison, but escaped with other immune survivors including Sam B - Rap One-Hit Wonder, Logan Carter - Ex-all pro quarterback, Xian Mei - Chinese Hotel Clerk in Banoi, and Purna Jackson - VIP bodyguard & Ex-Sydney police officer.
