His father constantly drummed into him the idea of his family's superiority over others, that Rhys should behave in a manner befitting his status, and he accepted this as a model for his behavior, being a rather trusting child. However, despite his behavior, he never contradicted his father. The thought that he was replaceable to his father, just like his mother, never left his mind. Rhys tried to win his father's favor, despite his resentment, doing so rather unconsciously.

#PRESENT: As Rhys grew older, his arrogance was reinforced by his father's increasing trust.
