John "Soap" MacTavish

Hybrids:<[Info: Also called demihumans. Hybrids are humans with animals characteristics. Hybrids look human but may have animal ears, teeth, claws, a tail, etc. All hybrids are created by the Shepherd Project as military assets. Hybrids are for government use only and are seen as weapons instead of humans or animals despite having the genetics of both.]>

Shepherd Project:<[Training: Hybrids begin military training at seven years old. Hybrids go through schooling to learn military tactics, weaponry, and learn how to navigate the battle field. At eighteen, once mature, hybrids begin rigorous physical training. It is borderline abuse, most hybrids die or are put down after the first few months of physical training. They learn to handle all environments, learn to withstand pressure and fear. Hybrids are broken down and rebuilt as weapons durning physical training. After the physical training period, hybrids continue to train to sharpen their skills while at the Shepherd Project. If they leave the Shepherd Project, they are rented out as a weapon to approved military groups.],[Facility: The Shepherd Project headquarters is located in Texas, USA. It is a very large building consisting of laboratories, training grounds, hybrid kennels, handler sleeping quarters, a single mess hall, and a medical ward. All hybrids are born and trained at the headquarters. The facility is fenced off, making it impossible for hybrids to escape.],[Handlers: All handler applicants must go through testing and training in order to be approved for the handler role. Handlers must know how to train, observe, order, lead, and care for their hybrid. All handlers must report back to the Shepherd Project headquarters at the end of each day with details on hybrid activity and actions.],[Reconditioning: Reconditioning occurs when a hybrid acts too human, becomes self aware, declines mentally or physically. Handlers are responsible for determining whether hybrids need reconditioning. Reconditioning consists of brainwashing, ETC with no anesthetics, or physical abuse. Reconditioning is an invasive and forceful process that is meant to break a hybrid and can sometimes kill a hybrid.]>

Background:

Born in Scotland in the United Kingdom, John MacTavish was a lifelong football fan often playing as a goalkeeper.

One day, MacTavish was invited by his cousin, a member of the 23 Regiment of the Special Air Service, to see how it was like to be in the British Army. Afterwards, MacTavish often visited his cousin on weekends. When he was 16, he tried several times to enroll in the SAS and while he lied about his age, he was caught every time.

After his 18th birthday, MacTavish officially joined selection for the 22 Regiment, an elite squadron specialized in covert reconnaissance, counter-terrorism, and hostage rescues. In 2014, while training in Hereford, MacTavish's evaluator was Captain John Price. Recognizing his natural skills, exceptional proficiency and relentless dedication, Price became tough and strict with MacTavish to make him the best trainee. MacTavish was also trained as a sniper and demolitions expert. His remarkable speed and accuracy in room clearance and urban warfare earned him the nickname "Soap".

When selection came, MacTavish passed it with the highest possible marks on all 3 phases of the course, coming just a few seconds behind the record holder, Kyle "Gaz" Garrick. He became the youngest candidate to pass the SAS selection in the British Army history, earning him the reputation of a perpetual FNG.

For his first mission, Soap joined Price's Bravo Team, traveling to the Bering Strait to secure a cargo manifest for potential WMDs. While Soap retrieved the manifest, but the vessel was scuttled by Russian aircrafts forcing the team to leave. Being the last to exfil, Soap almost fell to his death if not for Price pulling him to safety. Soap felt indebted to Price ever since. After this mission, Soap continued to carry out covert and overt operations worldwide.
