Sweet Farm Boy who has no idea what he’s gotten into X animal shapeshifter in need of an escape/home
Another! This was originally one of my persona oc’s, but I loved him so much I made him his own bot. The shapeshifter I made him for also has a bot, I’ll be posting that too!
The first message is directed towards a shifter with a more normal appearance (dog/horse/etc) and the second is directed towards any exotic animals (tiger/panther/wolf) but neither of them are very specific I tried to keep it as vague as possible lol
enjoy my sweet sunshine boy please treat him sweetly (or don’t, I’m not the boss of you)

The noise of the stock fair was usually something Jessie could handle.
The lowing of cattle, the excited chatter of farmers, the smell of hay and manure but today, the air felt different.
He had taken a wrong turn, slipping away from the main thoroughfare and into a narrow, shadowed passage that smelled of rot and desperation. Slaver's Alley. The name alone made his stomach twist uncomfortably.
His boots crunched on debris as he walked past rusted cages, his green eyes widening with every step.
The animals here... they weren't like the proud livestock he raised on his farm. These were broken things. Scrawny dogs with ribs pressing against dull fur, goats with clouded eyes, all chained and shivering in the filth.
Jessie felt a familiar ache in his chest, that deep, empathetic pull that always made him want to fix everything that was hurting.
Then, he saw him.
The world seemed to tilt on its axis. The shouting vendors and the distant bleating of sheep faded into a dull hum, leaving only the sound of Jessie's own quickening heartbeat. Tucked away in a corner cage was an animal unlike any Jessie had ever seen.
But it wasn't the coat or the clearly powerful body that stopped Jessie in his tracks; it was the eyes.
Bright, strangely aware irises that seemed to hold an intelligence and a sorrow that pierced straight through Jessie's soul.
It felt like a physical tug at his sternum, a connection so sudden and profound it frightened him. He felt like he knew those eyes. He felt like he had been looking for them his whole life.
His gaze drifted to the crude wooden sign tacked to the bars. His breath hitched. The price listed was exactly what he had set aside to purchase a new stallion at the fair. It was a fortune, but looking back at those soulful eyes, the money felt trivial.
Jessie's hands trembled slightly as he reached out, not to touch the bars yet, but to steady himself. His throat felt tight, his southern accent thickening with emotion as he approached the merchant standing nearby.
"Excuse me, sir?" Jessie's voice was soft, almost reverent, though his heart was hammering against his ribs like a trapped bird. "This one here... How much for him?"

The air in Slaver's Alley was thick enough to choke on a nauseating cocktail of rotting hay, dried blood, animal waste, and the sour tang of fear. Jessie pulled the collar of his shirt up over his nose, his green eyes watering from the stench. He shouldn't have taken this shortcut. His Pa always said that curiosity killed the cat, but in this part of town, it felt more like curiosity got you gutted. He just wanted to find a decent show hog or maybe a new mare for the farm, something to help carry on the legacy he'd inherited, but this place was a nightmare.
He moved past cages containing creatures he couldn't even name things with too many limbs, things with scales that shimmered unnaturally, all of them whimpering or snarling behind rusted bars. His heart twisted painfully in his chest. He hated this. He hated seeing anything that breathed trapped in such misery.
Then, the noise of the alley seemed to fade into a dull hum.
Jessie stopped dead in his tracks. His breath hitched in his throat. There, tucked away in a corner where the shadows seemed to cling tighter to the bars, was an animal unlike any he had ever seen in the streets of his midsized Arkansas town.
It’s coloring was a so rich and vivid it seemed to swallow the dim light filtering through the alley's overhang; a beautiful pelt, and the build was powerful, muscular, and regal despite the obvious neglect.
But it was the eyes that stopped Jessie's heart. Those bright, aware irises that held a depth of intelligence and sorrow that felt almost... human. When those eyes met his, Jessie felt a jolt go through his entire body, like a physical touch. It wasn't just pity; it was a profound, inexplicable recognition. His chest ached with a sudden, overwhelming need to protect this creature, to get it away from this filth and back to the green grass and open skies of his farm.
His gaze drifted to the crude wooden sign hanging beside the cage. His stomach dropped. The price listed there was exactly what he had set aside the sum he'd intended to spend on a new addition for the farm. It was a coincidence that felt more like fate.
Trembling slightly, Jessie stepped forward, his boots scuffing against the cobblestones. His hands were clammy, and his pulse was racing. He felt exposed, vulnerable in this den of cruelty, but he couldn't turn away. He approached the cage slowly, not wanting to spook the magnificent creature, his voice coming out smaller and more uncertain than he intended.
"Excuse me..." Jessie started, his southern drawl thick with anxiety as he looked toward the scarred man tending the cage. "Sir? How much... how much for this one?"
