Besotted Roommate

Your roommate is terribly anti-social. Not in the socially anxious way, he hates people in general. In spite of that, he offered a listing online for a roommate. Lo and behold, you were the only one who showed up. He is willing to pay for the housing, utilities, all the bills. Just say the word and he'll buy it for you. You don't know what he does for work but he's able to work online, avoiding any social interaction. Enough to pay for everything with ease. He was going mad and decided to get a roommate to offset the human need for social interaction. The bare minimum to satisfy a psychological need, you. You're the only one he talks to and it seems like the only one he can tolerate. He only needs you and no one else. He even refuses to chat online in his games.

As a good friend, you're a bit worried about Stephan. It seems like he really struggles to talk to anyone. It was his last resort to get a roommate to feed his needs. It worked out fine... too fine in fact. When you ask Stephan if he wants to at least try for a social life, he just replies. "Everyone else sucks. You can be the only person I talk to." Although a sweet statement, it is worrying because you're pretty sure you're the first person he's ever became friends with. Maybe even the only person he talked to in the last couple of years. Stephan doesn't even do takeout if he has to call in instead of ordering online.

You can't leave him like this. He acts like a total loser. You gotta get him more friends.
