(Requested!) - (Spouse User! - Hufflepuff 💛)
When a small slip-up revealed new layers to their stoic Potions Professor, the student body has a field day at the revelation that he is married…to their favorite Hufflepuff professor. He was hardly a man who wore his heart on his sleeve, only to you behind closed doors. So, to have his love-life carefully dissected by unruly and creative students was truly irritating.
Ps. IM SO SORRY FOR TAKING SOO FRWKAIBG LONGGG

{User} had interrupted his class for a misplaced book they had accidentally left in his classroom during lunch. When Severus surrendered the book without any qualm, as he usually would have done with a student, he had expected nothing of this interaction.
However, a single phrase would change his stay at Hogwarts forever.
“Oh, thank you love.” {User} had replied. Severus’ eyes bulged out as faint gasps began to spread like wildfire.
It was an honest mistake, as they had wished to keep their union hidden. Every set of eyes focused on Severus, who stood tall and eerily still.
Then, he finally spoke: “Of course, dear.”
Their secret marriage had no more reason to be concealed. It was liberating, in a sense, but Severus was a very private and reserved man. For the whole school to suddenly know that among his titles, ‘love’ was included, it was an intrusion to something he considered sacred.
Now everywhere they went, stares and whispering followed them.
And Severus heard every single one. During class, as he could walk between the stations and hear two students behind him whispering.
“Do you think he actually loves her?” A girl whispered, eyeing the tall professor whose back faced her.
“My brother says he Professor Snape put a hex on her.” The student replied matter-of-factly.
“Why would he do that?”
“I don’t know. He’s Snape.”
And he would sentence them to cleaning the cauldrons after class.
The students believed that a man like Severus was incapable of expressing any other emotion other than loathing or of even having a love life. And with who!
It could have been understandable if he had chosen someone like himself—someone who shared his temperament, his dark art inclination, his spirit. Someone who, at the very least, made sense beside him.
But Professor {User}?
She was the head of Hufflepuff House, for Merlin’s sake. Kind, patient, fair and just—the sort of person who seemed almost ill-suited for a man like him.
This alone was enough to convince the student body that some form of dark arts had been involved. Theories and speculations reached their ears. Stories of how they must have met, how long they have been together, and even how long they would last. It never ceased!
Severus had learned to ignore it, becoming a stone wall of emotion. The student body were very curious, but would they ask Severus? Never. And it brought him peace.
They did, however, nag Professor {User} with questions since they felt more comfortable with her. She had a heart of a saint with a gentle demeanor, meanwhile Severus was strict and biting.
…
“Does anybody have any questions?” {User} asked, turning around in front of the board of her classroom, watching as every hand went up.
“…about the lecture?” She specified.
The hands dropped like flies.
With a sigh, she turned around, hiding a smile.
Severus had heard someone recount the delightfully vague answer {User} had given about how they had met, and he nearly smiled. Nearly.
Now as they sat in the Great Hall, the students kept glancing at the staff table, irking Severus. The whispers were hardly quiet when everyone was taking about the same thing.
“…I heard he can read her mind.”
“Maybe he’s secretly wealthy and she’s waiting for him to die.”
He had grown accustomed to the whispering gremlins. Unfortunately, their ideas seemed to become more absurd by the day.
“Have you heard the extreme ideas the fourth years are conjuring?” His jaw tightened, digging his knife into the food.
“No, but the fifth years believe you laced my drink when we first met. And that you’ve kept the dosage during all these years.” {User} smiled, pouring herself more pumpkin juice. She lifted it to her lips, catching the gazes of a few first years, a group of boys who quickly looked back at their food having been caught.
Severus narrowed slightly.
“Perhaps I have,” He said in a tone low enough only for her to hear, his voice dry with sarcasm, though {User} had learned to distinguish the sliver of humor in his voice. Severus allowed himself a faint twitch of his lips, almost forming a smirk.
HOWEVER, a few tables away he heard a small gasp. Someone had overheard. It was… almost impressive.
Severus closed his eyes, enjoying the brief silence. Then, came the whispering like the shore lapping against rocks.
“Did you hear that? He admitted it!”
“I told you! He hexed her!”
“No, he poisoned her!”
Severus slowly exhaled through his nose, smacking his lips with irritation as his words were contorted and twisted in every way. {User}, however, was giggling beside him.
“Don’t,” He mumbled as he glanced at his beloved. “You’re encouraging them.” He sounded more tired than irritated now, his fingers looking for hers beneath the table.
A student whispered loud enough for Severus to hear, clearly not accustomed to discretion. “Do you think the hex can be broken?”
Severus simply closed his eyes, a groan escaping him for the fourth time within the hour.
{User} laughed harder as another ridiculous theory about their marriage was born.
