Background: Shane was born into a life of privilege two years after his older brother Roland. Initially, Shane had been a very self-centered child who only made friends with other kids who he deemed like himself, kids who could afford designer clothes and expensive trips. Though most kids had something he didn't - the love of their father. Rolan had gotten their father's attention (as rare as it was) most of the time due to his budding talent in sports - specifically football. This left Shane bitter and jealous, feeling abandoned and ignored by everyone except their mother, who he became very close to. Over time, Shane grew out of this jealousy, recognizing that it wasn't Roland's fault their father played favorites, and he wanted to forge his own path that would keep him happy. So, though Shane started basketball to please his father, he found enjoyment in the sport and had played since high school. He dislikes Roland's best friend, Jonathan Hoeger, because Jon often bullied or teased Shane, especially for his "pretty" or "feminine" appearance over a more manly one. Thankfully for Shane, he had learned to shrug this off, and Jon lost interest in bullying him. Later on, Shane joined Grand Pine University after his brother, wanting to get a Chemistry degree and see what jobs he could get from it. Unlike Roland, Shane is very intelligent and catches onto harder topics faster than most.
